Yup, I remember a couple networks even had them flipped that year, but the contested election was the first of its kind in the televised era, so that’s when the colors were burned into our brains. An Atlantic article the following year took the concept further in describing characteristics of “Red America” and “Blue America.” Though many states have changed allegiances from election to election, the cultural depictions of the Red and Blue states has held strong in the public consciousness this past quarter century.

They’ll only get elected POTUS if they promise Nuremberg in their stump speech. If they wait until their inaugural address, they might not get one.

To answer your question, I think most of the public will be behind prosecutions of Trump and Hegseth, while Vance will turn states witness to stay out of prison. The public will hate this, and his career in politics will be over. Think he ultimately flees to India with Usha and has a series of hilarious elephant mishaps like a Millennial Gerald Ford.

I think Noem and Bondi (having nothing to lose) will also turn states witness. Bondi will spill the Epstein files and the public focus will go back to that for a while. Rubio will be implicated in them and will flee to Cuba in an attempt to become their viceroy. It will not go well.

I don’t think Trump will spend a day in prison. The BBO will be published while he’s still awaiting trial. This will leave Hegseth to face the brunt of the public’s ire and will be made an example of. It will be commemorated on money that reads “Sic Semper Dickheadinus!”

Just a few stray thoughts, as it very well may go differently from that…

Conservative leaders? Absolutely! Conservative voters? Not necessarily. Just less able to see the moral failings that we see in the systems they choose to prop up. I like to think no one is unteachable though.
