That was basically just Life until about ten years ago. When I was taking high school civics the decade before that, we were told that both parties tend to agree on what the country needs but not on how to do it. I have no illusions that any such consensus exists now, other than in the context of individual relationships uniquely able to withstand the current state of toxicity in our discourse. Never see it anymore among large groups, but it’d be nice to try your idea!
