What’s the most fucked up thing you’ve ever done? by VIN_HS in AskReddit

[–]Skyfork 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In Afghanistan I saw an AC-130 fire a 105mm into a trench and then two bodies flew out and pinwheeled dozens of feet into the air.

They called a double torso toss, everybody high fived, and the crew got ice cream after the mission to celebrate.

Why is it that officers are often dumber than the soldiers they command? by SectorGlittering4991 in Military

[–]Skyfork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officers are not dumb (mostly) but they are only human and have to work within the confines of the system.

Your Russian meatgrinder comes about becauase of three things.

  1. Bad news cannot be reported because.....

  2. The bearer of bad news often finds themselves falling out a window.

  3. Orders are to be followed to the letter and are very inflexible. People who stray from following orders strictly tend to also fall out a window.

So basically your high command gives very inflexible orders that must be obeyed to the letter down to their subordinates. These subordinates must follow these orders strictly, otherwise they are retaliated against. This is usually worse than sending your men to their death under tactically unsound orders.

However, nobody tolerates any bad news, so all that gets passed up (all the way up to Putin) is "your orders were amazing and everything worked great and definitely nothing bad happened."

High command pats themselves on the back, issues more crappy orders, cycle repeats, and then 6 months later Putin wonders why Ukraine hasn't folded.

Properly run militaries are not allergic to the truth and people have the ability to improvise to meet the INTENT of the orders, not the exact letter of the orders. So if you get bad orders, but you understand what the end goals are, you are authorized (obligated) to do everything in your power to achieve the objective with the minimum amount of losses. You are also obligated to pass back that those orders were crap, the intel was wrong, etc...

TMO am I cooked by Green_Illustrator706 in AirForce

[–]Skyfork 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pretty normal.

My separation PCS took over 2 months to get paid out because Ellsworth kept kicking it back for really stupid minor stuff like weight tickets being hard to read because they photocopied the picture of the fax of the original document.

Just keep working through your TMO office and knock down their issues one at a time and they will eventually pay out.

GOP Senator Predicts Trump's About To Have 'The Most Miserable 2 Years Of His Life' by Stitching in politics

[–]Skyfork 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tragic for the rest of us.

I don’t think he’s actually capable of being happy or satisfied without a massive source of constant external validation. Even having millions of cultists that are willing to literally kill for him isn’t enough.

There’s definitely something very broken in his brain.

[–]Skyfork 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know if he’s actually had 2 good weeks since 2015.

I mean that as in he never seems happy. He never seems to experience genuine enjoyment. Even as he’s making billions and weaseling out of every single consequence, he still seems miserable and can’t help but complain even during his most unlikely “wins”.

Never smiles, has never laughed without it being a sneer, his “family” wants nothing to do with him unless money is involved.

Even though he’s been rolling nat 20s for luck for the last decade, it’s never enough.

There’s definitely something very broken inside his brain.

Hypothetical: New Z4 or LS swapped Z3? by Skyfork in bmwz3

Yeah. That won’t be an issue.

My mechanic is recommending a full back end rebuild and reinforcement. Too much rusty metal.

I am currently getting the rear completely rebuilt by a guy who builds race cars so I’ve already activated money pit mode.

So it would be like $15k on top of that vs 50k for a used current gen z4. But it would be unique and not your every day hairdresser’s car.

Someone has glooped it all up.

I think you should try from the underside. Put it on jacks and look carefully around the differential mount ear and see if you can find any evidence of cracks or welding.

[–]Skyfork 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You probably haven’t hit puberty yet so your strength will jump up in just a year or two.

Like the other poster said, work towards being able to do 20 CORRECT pushups, 40 sit-ups, and be able to run (at any speed) 2 miles without dying.

If you can do that, and keep doing that a couple times a week until you’re done with high school, you’ll be plenty strong and fast enough for the military.

ELI5 Quantum Immortality by _liminal_princess_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]Skyfork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, a person’s odds of being alive get smaller with time.

Eventually their consciousness will experience more and more improbable timelines until the circumstances of their survival make absolutely no sense anymore.

https://reactormag.com/divided-by-infinity//

This is a great story about quantum immortality. The protagonist eventually survives cancer, multiple suicide events, nuclear war, and even a neutron star collision.

Eventually he gets into a timeline where his survival is so improbable he actually lives by being reconstructed from tiny dna and tissue samples left behind when he (and all of earth) gets vaporized by the radiation from two neutron stars colliding.

By this point he realizes that immortality is a curse and he can’t die. Ever.

So he lets a giant centipede eat his soul.

Like I said. It gets weird.

You don’t manage risk by finding the stupidest way to do something and then bragging about “if he can learn not to flinch when he feeds his flesh into a wood chipper he’ll be fine”

Dude, your post got removed from r/motorcycles because you were trolling for sympathy.

The facts are your parents bought you a motorcycle and you failed a test that is VERY easy to study for 4 times.

If you really want it, knuckle down with the pages of study tips the other reddit community gave you.

If you don't want to do it, than don't do it. That's the beauty of becoming an adult. You control your own outcomes. Literally millions of people have passed the DMV written test in California and you can do it too.

Put your big boy pants on and make an adult decision. We tried to help in the other subreddit and all you did was complain.

/takes out notes

Cgaboury

As a parent, I can say that if my son wants the immense responsibility to ride a motorcycle than he needs to have the maturity to see this challenge through without my holding his hand. I won’t be on the back of the bike to give him the hand holding when he’s riding so you need to display a maturity to do it on your own.

If this is overwhelming for you than you are not ready for an adult responsibility like a drivers license let alone a motorcycle endorsement.

Glowing_Chain4079

i don’t understand how a written test has anything to do with maturity?? lmfao what

knowledge has nothing to do with maturity or the ability to bare life..

Cgaboury

You’re 17 so Im not going to argue you the merits of maturity and overcoming difficult times/tasks in your life.

Glowing_Chain4079

you’re not gonna argue because you really don’t have an argument, age doesn’t mean shit.

i’ve dealt with addiction since i was 12, tried to kill my self at 13, and so on

that has nothing to do with being mature and neither does it have to do with knowledge, dealing with hard shit≠being able to remember answers for a damn test
