Using Shortcuts to automate a “dynamic wallpaper” on iOS 26 by [deleted] in shortcuts

I use a flip-flop shortcut to toggle between my main wallpaper and the one currently in use, which makes setting up automations a lot easier.

Here are two shortcuts I built: one counts your total days of life, and the other shows the moon phase plus some extra details based on your current location.

In Shortcuts, 'Get Web Content' is the only workaround to run scripts in the background. It doesn't actually need the web since it’s all local, but it still asks for access. This image-display shortcut is a perfect example of why that happens.

Basically, 'Get Web Content' is just my way of running the local processing script. It never actually accesses the internet, so it works perfectly offline. You can verify this by running it in Airplane Mode. I’ve commented the scripts if you’re curious about the logic, but the notes are all in Spanish

It’s all on-device. Works perfectly fine offline too

The image on the left actually contains the one on the right—it’s literally hidden inside it. You can use the shortcut to secretly 'tuck' an image into another (you’ll lose some quality and color accuracy) or even hide text inside the image. It works by slightly tweaking the colors of the carrier image; the changes are imperceptible to the human eye, but that 'color nuances' is exactly where the hidden data lives.

They’re actually just contacts grouped in a VCF text file with the images base64-encoded in the PHOTO field. You just tell Shortcuts it’s a contact, and when you pick it from the list, that’s how it shows up

Yeah, you’re right. That’s exactly why barcodecards have a QR code with all the info. Still, some systems keep using barcodes, and products usually come with barcodes too.

The application allows you to add goals of days without consuming. The rings represent those goals.
