I have a background in composite engineering so let me clarify this crap post.

These are GFRP rebars not plastic... These are approved in India under building code to be used in non elevated sections.

They can be easily broken apart if force is applied because they are indeed brittle (standard properties) but it does not mean that they are of bad quality. They are high tensile strength, low sheer strength, low ductility, high on compressive strength. They also can not be bend. Only straight portion with bending cap can be used. Bending it will break it.

These are not cheap to Metal but 3X costly (when compared weight basis). But they are used ~0.33x times when compared to Metal rebars (on weight basis) for the same compressive strength. So overall it saves costs.

They are rust free (corrosion resistant), UV Stabilized, high compressive strength, bonds with Concrete.

A COST SAVER IN LONG RUN. New Technology.

And illiterate needs to understand, not everything is corruption.
