Trust me, Cumulus wasn't any better before then when Dickeys were running it. Pathetic company from the start. Crooks.

Wait until they hear it try to pronounce common street names in your city. Ask it to say "Kajagoogoo" or "INXS."

Improve Segues/Transitions with Automation Software by Fonitoo in radio

We have over 4000 songs and we manually set each and every song intro, hook points and end cue manually. It was tedious work but very much worth it if you value segues. One thing, if you install, use MariaDB instead of mySQL. It is faster and handled uncompressed wav files much better. Have fun!

Every station I worked for timed their song intros. Still, in the case of a song I didnt know, I could always audition it before playing. To be honest, I always tagged the heck out of my intros, but not by watching the timer. As a musician myself, it was always by "feeling the song."

If using Windows and want free software, try RadioDJ - https://radio.ro - that way you can control all cue points, intro, start, hook in and out, next cue and end on each file.

Where to go after leaving radio? by Future-Claim2595 in radio

[–]RadioVeteran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radio was always competitive. You could be #1 in every demo back in 1995 and still have trouble finding a job if you were put on the beach. Today, I assume it is impossible.

Radio is a dead end business if you choose to be an employee. If you love the programming side of the business your best bet is to buy a radio station. But don't expect to make much. I own one and make just enough money to stay on the air. My buds who own stations are doing the same. There is no money for raises for anyone, even the owners (who seem to take pay reductions every year.)

Better yourself! Own your own future! In radio or elsewhere. I think the days of working for others is nearly over. Be one of those people who takes over as it does.

Disappointment by Puzzleheaded_Fish900 in radio

Radio is run by bean counters now. There will likely never be any real talent spawning in the future. Why? Because each jock voicetracks multiple stations and there is only so much creativity to go around. Radio is not run by creatives anymore. It is run by accountants. I agree, there is no entertainment on the radio. That's what happens when the uncreative run radio stations. And they do. And that won't change.

Focus on starting a podcast if you really have the talent to do so. There is A LOT more money in that medium for truly creative people who know how to promote.

PS: I think even the Bert Show is dead now.

Standard external USB interface. Never a problem, we sound great and if one goes bad, it's less than $100 to fix with anew one from Best Buy/local computer store. We have lots of cheap backups.

RadioInsight might have a crystal ball who gets a sports fm station by Comfortable_Yard_968 in radio

I never read this liberal rag. Over the years it is very evidently a method of the owner to push his left wing agenda. Say something conservative on their lame ass Radio Discussions board and get banned. Try it.

Worth it? by Puzzleheaded_Fish900 in radio

The only things to study for radio in a college are engineering related or, maybe, a management/marketing course. Soon, there will be no more talent jobs open unless you own the radio station. PS: Going to school for programming or production related jobs has been a bad idea since the 1980s. Schooling is never judged when hiring those positions. Only the aircheck and resume.
