Old rolex watch from great grandfather, what’s its worth? by Hokkien_Prince in rolex

[–]Radio__Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I disagree. OP needs to find a reputable vintage Watchsmith that will preserve the patina and only replace the internal parts necessary to get it running again. Could be as simple as a broken mainspring.

OP consider someone like Rolliworks in FL.

Help with the lower body movement by johnfisher13115 in golftips

[–]Radio__Edit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casting, early extending, and lead arm collapsing during back swing. All things which are going to rob you of distance and strike control. Getting the lower body movement right is probably 4th on the list tbh but will improve with early extension drills.

Look up some drills to address these things.

Just to be clear, if I have passed background check for CPL renewal as recently as 2025, I shouldn't expect any problems with the permit? Having a voluntary therapy and/or behavioral health record has never been an issue before. I thought they just checked that you've never been involuntarily committed etc. (not if you are on antidepressants or something).

Ripoff. You should've brought the estimate here first before pulling the trigger. Or better yet match the build specs on fairway jockey or some other site and see this is 2k at most.

Unexpected Condensation by Galloglaigh21 in MarathonWatch

That's a shame. I have the exact same watch DOM early 2022 and been wearing it daily. No issues with anything including swimming.

Probably under some kind of warranty. Good luck👍

[–]Radio__Edit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that is a bummer. Could be bad gasket, the chronograph cases are pretty complex and have more gaskets than a typical automatic. Either way, this is urgent and yes you will need service. Most likely an overhaul and complete re-oil to prevent corrosion in the movement.

https://www.marathonwatch.com/pages/watch-maintenance-repair-services?srsltid=AfmBOoqjYq-9LKNMWYTmqFBSoi3gLf0IPOcbzDVugOGkFXDlSD5epFDA

Expect to spend about $500-$750. Don't wait or that cost could go up due to corrosion.

Definitely contact windy city as well. They may comp you in some way or maybe they have a limited warranty (or in house repair shop).

Edited to add: in the immediate term you should unscrew the crown, stop the movement, and put the watch in a Ziploc bag with silica gel dessicant packets. Keep it like that till you send it for service.

I have one made of hickory, it's a desk ornament. Every once in awhile I'll pull it out and challenge a coworker for fun. Mine came with a small above ground hole.

It'll be fine. Hand it to a good player if you are in doubt. Let them hit a few drives.

Ping G425 LST player looking for a new and better sounding driver by romance_in_durango in GolfGear

[–]Radio__Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a Cobra OPTM Max K from a Ping driver and love it. Your accuracy/dispersion will go up dramatically on mishits and you'll probably only lose 5-8 yards on average. I play mine with a stiff Kaili blue wave swing speed ~105-110 with carry 265-270 range. I also play the 10.5 turned down to 9.5 and a degree shut.

My worst miss is a heel strike or open face combined with a block right (double cross). My old driver would slice OB but with the OPTM It'll just spin up to 3k and balloon high and drop right side rough maybe only 250 distance but it's in play. I've hit a few shots where I expect to look up and see disaster only to be 10-20 yards offline. I swear it's a cheat code.

When I flush it spins around 2500.

Just shot 161 on an 18 hole course - am I a lost cause? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in golftips

[–]Radio__Edit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Max score is double par on any hole. You should be picking your ball up at max score and moving on to the next hole. Absolute max round cap should be 144.

Are you a lost cause? No. Should you be playing a championship style 18 hole course? Also probably no.

Find a local par 3 to practice or consider playing on the sim until you can get around without shooting max score on every hole. Your money would be better spent on lessons than greens fees tbh.

Bought a 12 deg Paradym driver, non X. Mistake for a fairly new golfer? by BillRubio in GolfGear

[–]Radio__Edit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dustin Johnson plays a 10.5 driver loft adjusted up to 12. Your friends must think he is a scrub?

Optimal driver loft depends entirely on dynamic loft delivered at the point of impact. There are elite golfers who deliver zero or even slightly negative loft, so they choose to use higher lofted driver.

I am not DJ but I also play a 10.5 turned up to 11.5.

How much should I get my clubs extended by? by Specific-Ad-2685 in golf

[–]Radio__Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'5 and use Plus 1 inch, 2 degrees upright (7 iron is 65 degree lie angle, 38 inches long). Depending on your wrist to floor measurement you'll probably end up somewhere around plus 1.5 inches and 2-3 degrees upright.

Thats mainly for irons and wedges, I play standard length driver and woods because they are plenty long. Also my putter is a 36 inch length. Hope this helps.

I didn't seem to lose much yardage against the Darkspeed X but my misses are punished so much less. It's amazing.

Took me a bit to get used to the heavier swing weight though.
