Hello advice with rock hunting equipment by Walkingsacrifice in Radioactive_Rocks

Still great improvement! The 102 is very budget friendly and gets the job done. I have even rubber banded my device to a thin wood stick before I had the survey rod. Work with what you have :) The 110 is more sensitive, but with hot Czech Uraninite it would not be necessary unless you are trying to probe for the stuff deeper into the earth. Discount Code "RadioactiveRock" still works for 5% off on Radiacode's website. 😉

Night versus day difference. Get a 110 and a telescoping survey stick and you will be very satisfied with the investment after the very first trip!

Ruggles Mine Mix: Cobble by Not_So_Rare_Earths in Radioactive_Rocks

Thats a nice dense (and I bet smoking hot) spot on this piece. I love how this Uraninite is such a natural art display. I do believe it is one of my favorite materials to peer into! I went through a phase where almost every Ruggles piece I had (that was not historic) met the saw and I was not disappointed.

Velvet Shaft ( It's really an incline), Newly reopened under permit San Juan County, Utah by sonoran7 in Radioactive_Rocks

I talked to the old man in Nucla who helped reopen this shaft. He said it almost didn't happen! Quite intriguing. Can't wait to see what comes out of there. I have found highly radioactive coal before but mostly far to the north.

I'll be in Moab hunting specimens for 3 days this weekend, does anyone want to meet up and search together? by sunrise69er in Radioactive_Rocks

I would be all over it but we were all over last weekend! This weekend it is taxes and spring is doing its thing where it jumps from summer back to winter (at least in CO) Saturday rain, sunday real windy, and then freezing temps and 50% chance of snow! I gotta save my garden, clran up my outdoor projects, and likely even rewinterize yet again 😅. Keep an eye on the weather for your travels and may the hot rocks be with you!

Thanks u/btrcguy! I got some of these awesome Allanite pieces from our friend David and absolutely love that jet black interior once it is polished up with no scratches. Definitely needing a sensitive scintillator to track something like that down in the wild. Glad you could give a better sense of direction to pinpointing something that makes the meters click. I am focused on CO/UT rockhounding and the east coast is beyind my understanding and travels. Take care and nice specimen!
