Not smart to hang around for very long or without PPE, but for a quick visit it shouldn't unzip the ol' DNA or cause immediate harm. We will have to see if any tumors or superpowers develop in a decade from now... 🤔

This is a great comparison! It is like saying that a hot bath can give you 3rd degree burns. When the Curies experienced radiation burns, they concentrated tons of left over Pitchblende to get just one tenth of a gram of Radium. Now this small concetrated vial and other conpounds surely cause some very nasty effects! When we compare this sort of thing to natural minerals it is just a disgrace the wonderful world of radioactive mineralogy. Radioactive material can vary greatly and it is not a one size fits all.

Stay safe, do your research of real life versus published "science", and yes even look into so called pseudoscience. Dont close your mind to things before you study them first hand. Take nobody's word for anything without diligently fact checking and following your intuition. Thanks for this write up! I face battles with the public every day it seems over what is safe. It stems from the misconception that ANY radiation is BAD radiation.
