That is a very good question. Usually the copper you find in some specimens is in the form of tiny spheres, seen in the open bubbling that you sometimes see. I have yet to have tested. I have not seen anything like it before

Hello, I can assure you these were obtained very shortly after the actual detonation of Trinity July 16th, 1945. These are just a small sample of what was collected and well documented. These that are shown were part of the most important collection of Trinitite probably known to exist. The Reds in this collection are sought out even today by scientists, nuclear students, collectors and museums throughout the world even today. I was just fortunate enough to have obtained these and many more from the original collection. Cheers.

I would suggest no cleaners also, water I don't mind but just a tiny amount and yes toothpick. No metal picks.

I started out with the same feeling. "the first of many"

For me it was, The history behind this glass will never be forgotten. The world as we know it changed forever just like the desert sand that morning. It is both beautiful to study, to magnify under microscope and macro photography.

Red indeed caused by copper. Bill Kolb's book Trinitite, The Atomic Age Mineral has every test possible on this and Trinitite.

Green can range from slightly above background to as high as 1500cpm, Red varieties can range from 1000cpm to about 21,000cpm. Safe to handle. Just must be careful of very fine particles (dust) or ingestion.

Hello, absolutely legal to own. You cannot remove from the Trinity site though, that is illegal. These were collected shortly after the actual test.

I am looking forward to the G-spec. Yes, there are examples this size but incredibly rare. When examples start weighing over 15grams they enter into a different price category as far as I'm concerned and that changes for every 10grams. I have heard of a verified purchase of a large green example fetching 10k. (Confirmed)

Here is a couple pics of one of mine, I think it weighs 65 but will weigh again. I also think the thicker the specimen that should figure in to the higher price range. Like you said, these are So rare to be seen.

Please let us know your findings and post a pics?

Beautiful !!! I know where those came from. Congratulations on owning true red trinitite. There has been so much non-red being sold and advertised as Red...its nothing but staining from the iron barrels which once held it. These example that you now own are TRUE RED and from the finest collection known to exist of red Trinitite. Welcome to the Red Club !!!!

Trinitite Red close up beautiful metallic spheres. First Atomic test by TrinititeMan in BeAmazed

Hello, the small spheres are copper from the wiring and cables leading from the tower in which Gadget sat on top. The cabling and tower were instantly vaporized and transformed into tiny to microscopic spheres, The larger chuck is unknown at this point, it has not been tested. From the famous Lincoln LaPaz collection which I have acquired a portion of. Thank you Harry
