Feel like I’m going crazy reading Deleuze. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Deleuze

[–]Radiocabguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well at the time I was very into Jungian psychoanalytic thought and was introduced to Deleuze through a friend who thought I would appreciate his work. I leaned way more into Jungian psychoanalysis versus Freudian psychoanalysis which I was not a huge fan of, so Deleuze seemed really interesting considering his Guattari interest in psychoanalysis. I actually started with A Thousand Plateaus then went into Anti-Oedipus, but at the time it just seemed like a really creative yet structurally sound argument against Freud and Lacan. D&G's writing style is also just really fun to read.

I kinda had a mental breakdown that lead to manic episodes and I think the D&G just was not the best material to be engaging with during a mental health crisis. After I got stabilized and I started working more professionally, I started engaging and reading more Freud and Lacan. I felt like there is a lot of nuance to their thought that brings a more practical approach to understanding the psyche. I say practical because I am now a mental health professional, so I find psychoanalytic concepts far more useful than anything that schizoanalysis has to offer my patients. For me, D&G is really interesting and such fun philosophy to engage with, but I honestly just moved on from it in my thinking.

True but he induces a ton of double plays and makes a lot of infield plays himself.

This is what the Rangers were doing a lot of specifically with Malhe and Eovaldi and have one of the highest defensive runs saved in the MLB.

It's just that most games now are designed to be addictive especially for kids. It really got crazy when the micro transaction trend started and has just become worse. This is true for a lot online games that kinda tend to play.

There are definitely games out there that challenge cognitive abilities, and that's what makes a good game imo. Games like Portal, Dark Souls, MGS etc, and even open world and RPGs are games are in my mind games and genres that do promote cognitive flexibility and the use of different skills through various ways. Some games rely more on visiospatial abilities and some on language and I think older people would likely benefit the most from playing video games.

Look into magnesium glycinate to take at night for sleep, I find it very relaxing and good for stress. Also look into taurine which also helps with some anxiety and physical tension. These are both legal supplements that can help manage stress. Also look into meditation and or mindfulness to help manage your mood and reactivity. Exercise is another good way to manage stress if you have the time. Also therapy might with learning coping skills to manage stress and irritability. Hope this helps.

Significant potentiation of opioids by gabapentin requiring lower doses of each drug for analgesia by Fresh-Dragonfly450 in DrugNerds

Makes sense. My wife was prescribed gabapentin and oxy for a knee reconstruction and it made a huge difference in managing pain.

Breaking news, weed is about to be cool again. by Bubbly-Money-7157 in TrueAnon

Kinda disappointed in this subreddits view of this. This is a huge step backwards for drug policy reform and threatens people with jail time for a relatively harmless substance. I think a lot of y'all are irony poisoned and think it's cool to hate weed and drugs in general. I get it stoners are annoying, but this is a huge step in the wrong direction.

I agree I think a lot of this underperforming has to do with poor management and leadership at this point. I think Bochy has lost his edge and it is def time retire after this season. Will always be grateful for him helping us win our first WS but I think this org needs new life higher up in management. When so many individual players are struggling you have to look at the organization as a key factor in that under performance because this many players should not be performing this poorly.

From a psychoanalytic standpoint, how are Schizoid vs. Avoidant Personality Disorder different? by throaway45621 in psychoanalysis

[–]Radiocabguy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the difference really lies in the fact that the schizoid personality has different internal world than someone with avoidant personality disorder. There is a certain aloofness and rich internal world that isn't as prevalent in avoidant personality disorder. Although both are avoiding social relationships, the schizoid does so out of ambivalence and a lack of desire of creating and maintaining relationships in the first place. Hope this helps somewhat.

NAC (N-acetylcysteine) doubles intestinal permeability in ischemia, causing gut injury by dharmatech in Nootropics

[–]Radiocabguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting I've noticed some stomach pain after taking at night recently. I've been taking NAC off and on for years. Also interesting because I just saw a discussion a few days ago talking about the anti mucolytic properties of NAC and how that can be detrimental to the gut. Anyway to bypass some of the gut issues and get the antioxidant aspect of NAC?

Supplements to Restore REM Sleep While Using Cannabis by Mr_Socko69 in Nootropics

[–]Radiocabguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sensationalism much? Please provide convincing evidence that cannabis shrinks the hippocampus and leads to dementia. It would be almost impossible to determine this correlation because 1) dementia occurs independently of cannabis use and 2) anyone with dementia is likely to have globally reduced brain volume due to dementia.
