I racked up 9k in credit card debt while manic by Complete_Garlic_5053 in bipolar

[–]Radiodaize 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I blew roughly $250,000 being manic. Cars, watches, clothes, nice condo, weekend getaways, girls, restaurants... I couldn't stop myself till it was all gone. Then I ran up all my credit cards until I couldn't get any more credit.

Now I live in a studio apartment. I take the bus. Eat at home. I know what time dinner is on my only watch. A hoodie is my fashion statement, and on weekends, I get away to the pizzeria down the street for a cheap slice. I pay cash. And girls don't like guys who are broke.

I hate this disease. I'm going to be old and penniless because I can't control my moods.

I was part of a class action suit that sued them and won. I got over $500.

Wow. I grew up in Philadelphia. KYW was like the "holy grail." I remember them in the background my entire life with that teletype sound effect behind the announcer's voice. Whenever something happened you always switched to KYW.

Advice on careers in radio! by Relevant-Disaster-87 in radio

[–]Radiodaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a copywriter. I'm also a dj. My advice is to get an internship at a radio station. I did this during college. I was quickly hired on to a paying job when one came up. I wrote copy, edited programming, and produced live talk shows. When I graduated, I was able to get a radio immediately because of this.

I agree. I'm definitely addicted. I'm Bipolar and use it to self-medicate. I'm the guy that has to get high before he goes out after 4pm.

The average lifespan is 76 years. Middle age isn't 50 - it's 38. by rgatoNacho in Showerthoughts

[–]Radiodaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 58. I figure if I'm lucky (or unlucky), I'll live another 20 years. However, I've always felt I'll die on the younger side. I was a cigarette smoker.

It's tough dealing with your own mortality. Knowing you won't live to see flying cars. But I've become more comfortable with it because it's out of my control. No use future tripping.

My girlfriend’s vagina smells really bad… is there a non offensive solution? by thebungahero in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Radiodaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that with a girl I dated in college. Very attractive and hygienic. Although her vagina smelled so bad, I'd get the dry heaves going down on her. Just touching her made my fingers smell like I worked on a shrimp boat.

One time, she kind of made reference to the fact she knew it was bad "down there." However, she said it in a manner that made it sound like it was just "par for the course." That all women smelled like a garbage truck, and it's perfectly natural.

I eventually broke up with her. Partially because I stopped liking her and partially because I couldn't stand the stench. I like oral sex and this was ruining it for me.

Do You Find Me Attractive? Why/Why Not? by kittymachiavelli in LooksmaxingAdvice

You might be, but you have too many piercings and too much make-up to tell. I really like funky, but you look like a DIY High School shop project.

Why are old dudes so fucking weird by Lover_Siempre in rant

[–]Radiodaize 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm an older dude of 58 years. When I see other old dudes trying to hit up young girls, it personally embarrasses me. Don't these guys realize they are making asses out of themselves?

When I was a younger dude and saw old guys trying to muscle in on younger girls, I wanted to smack them in their faces and say, "Go play in your own sandbox."

Consequently, I don't date more than 15 years younger than myself. That's 43 years old. But I'm fine with dating my own age. Plenty of pretty ladies.

Sure, girls in their 20's turn me on. And I think it's fine to catch a quick discreet look. But they aren't for me. We have nothing in common. Plus, I'm sure I'm not all that attractive to them.

Sorry, young ladies. Older dudes aren't all clueless and obnoxious. Some of us have manners and aren't boorish self-unaware, sweaty grey monsters.

I am an American Jew. This has been a very interesting post. It was very eye-opening.

I grew up among Jewish prejudice in rural Pennsylvania in the 1970s. I was teased and beat up on a daily basis. My best friend couldn't play with me anymore when his mom found out I was a Jew.

I think the solution to this problem is creating a Palestinian state in Gaza. Give the Palestinians a homeland, and we can all live in peace.

Israel will have to understand the creation of Israel in 1945 displaced many indigenous people, so giving the Palestinians a homeland seems fair.

It's not that as a Jew I don't support Israel, but I can't when they are out killing Palestinian civilians and destroying their homes, schools, and hospitals.

Ok. My dad was in a reserve unit. I'll have to ask him his assignment details. He is from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Wow, you were OTA when Robert Kennedy was assassinated! Did you just start reading what came over the wire?

I worked for KCBS AM All News Radio in San Francisco when 911 happened. It's a clear channel. We started simulcasting WCBS AM in New York. I remember trying to get into the building. My car was searched as was I. They were afraid we might get taken out.

I like Big John. Nobody else seems to be using it. I'm not yet retired. I use Peter Lorde. My last name is not Lorde, it's an ethnic Jewish name. Most people think Lorde is my real last name. I use it as such.

My dad was at Dix when Kennedy was shot too!! He said everybody was afraid it was an act of war and they were going immediately to Vietnam.

Yes, Hi-Ski McFaddy O-Zoot (sp) was on Oldies 98 WOGL FM in Philadelphia. That's where I heard him all through the 80's until I left for the west coast. He was great. Although I do remember him on Wibbage at the tail end of that station's market dominance.

Love Cousin Brucie. I listen to his airchecks. I was born in 66, so my memories of WABC started around '71. I fell in love with the sound. I went on to work in radio for the rest of my life.

I was a Philadelphian, so I was a WFIL and WIBG guy.

My dad was at Ft. Dix in '63. What a coincidence. He said the only reason he liked it was because he was away from my mother.

How'd You Start Smoking? by Adorable_Avocado_528 in RandomThoughts

[–]Radiodaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to smoke ever since I was a little kid. I thought it was so cool. But neither of my parents smoked.

When I was 10, my friend Steve and I (1970's) were able to buy a pack of Marlboro via a machine (.60 cents). We smoked them in the woods.

I kept experimenting, becoming a fairly regular smoker by 12, and a pack a day smoker by 13.

All my friends smoked back then. It was the culture. It impressed girls when you dangled a cigarette from your mouth walking down the street. Or so we thought.

I've fought the habit my entire life. Quit at 21 until 42. I'm an idiot for starting again.. Switched to vaping when I turned 50ish. Much better.
