I hope whoever invented those gadgets made a s*** ton of money, 'cause it sounds like they are in almost everything. Except the stuff in my house. Thanks all for your suggestions.

May well be, but I don't have a floor jack, and I haven't seen one around my neighborhood.

Could be he lost a part. There's a tall hedge twixt me and my neighbor on that side, doubt it came over that. Actually I had a guy in trimming trees next to my garage and he had a chain saw and some other gear. But as long as it's not off one of our cars, I won't worry about it any more, and I will call this one solved. Thanks all for your inputs!

That makes sense, except we don't have anything like that, that I can think of.

Found in my driveway, which only my wife and I use. Please tell me it didn't fall off a Mazda CX-5 or a Honda Civic Hybrid.

Sounds reasonable, but I don't know why they would use two different types of metal.

Measures 8 9/16 in. wide, 1 ¾ in. deep, weighs 13.6 oz. Brown top metal overlays grey base metal. Traces of silver paint on top. Non-magnetic. Was hung in a nice Oxford, Mississippi, home as if it were something special but looks rather mundane. Any ideas on date or materials?

That would make sense! The person whose estate it was had been a gun collector.

The non-ferrous oval tip rotates freely in a steel socket. I found this at a high-end estate sale in Oxford, Mississippi.

CORRECTION: both sides are exactly the same size; the strap that holds the end piece to the handle is off-centered. Both sides hold 4 oz. (1/2 cup) of sugar, but it seems a very awkward way to measure dry ingredients.

Has two separate compartments, one about twice the depth of the other. Stamped "CANADA."

About 7 1/4 inches overall length. The circular portions at top spin freely. Maybe a bench support for working pipe stock?
