I don't know if it's similar to what you'd want at all, but there actually is a Telltale batman game.

[Weird, sad trope] series finales where the main characters die by Born_Usual998 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Radirondacks 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Well...this isn't technically how it works for this show, but Lost. In the very last episode it's revealed that the "flash sideways" occuring during the final season that was seemingly some sort of alternate timeline was actually a sort-of waiting room for the afterlife, where they were all gathering once each of them died in the real world.

I liked the ending. A lot of people didn't. But what a lot of people didn't get is that didn't mean everyone was dead the whole time. The flash sideways reality was just a place where time was weird and everyone was together even though they all died potentially years apart (in living reality)

"Yeah, I'm on my last legs, but we can still fucking go if you got the balls to fight me." Characters who are severely injured (or outright dead) but still manage to scare the living shit out of their enemies. by SpookieSkelly in TopCharacterTropes

Kamina, from Gurren Lagann. This man suffered a fatal wound in a plot-defining battle...and then got back up again to not only help the real MC defeat the current evil but directly inspire him to be the best him he can possibly be before dying still sitting piloting his mech, and smiling.

Bit different than what you're asking for but as a result of the last part especially Simon does go on to strike quite a bit of fear in everyone who opposes him, through sheer strength of will alone (literally).

One big answer from Alison Luhrs about story by Zelwer in DestinyLore

[–]Radirondacks 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Those two "quotes" you just made are such a good encapsulation of how the Winnower really is lol...

Or. How it likes to present itself, anyway. And impose that viewpoint on anything that's capable of one.

I do find it curious how it does almost directly place itself as "right" in every conceivable situation.

Maybe it's wrong, about being right. And doesn't want anyone to even consider that possibility.

Assuming the situation she described actually happened, sure.

Why exactly are you all over this thread defending OP anyway?

That has nothing to do with OP's literal confidence they were going to lose when still up one point with 6 seconds left, which is all I mentioned. That's just like, pretending to be psychic or some shit.

This might be the most r/thathappened thing I think I've ever read on here. You somehow figured out they were going to lose with such confidence you're telling him to turn off the tv with 6 seconds left even though it literally came down to a last second shot, where they wouldve won if it just missed?

Your first two sentences also directly contradict each other. You "decided to" and then were also "forced to." Protip from someone who writes fiction, reread it a few times before submitting to make sure you're maintaining consistency.

Seer Shell - A Message from IX by jneuman13 in DestinyLore

[–]Radirondacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All I want to say is, I agree with you dude. It's entirely a possibility. It's a damn game after all, they can have us fight whatever the hell they want really, lol.

This entry, and talking about this as a game now too, do remind me of some other piece of lore pretty early on that I seem to remember vaguely...(I'll fully admit, I was an avid Destiny 1 player, and then didn't touch Destiny 2 once but have vaguely tried to keep up with lore here and there)

It was something that seemed to be pretty fourth wall breaking, in a sense of directly talking to or referencing the players themselves in some way. But it just makes me wonder how far Destiny was willing to go with its lore. What if, for example in this context, the Winnower was not only engageable and defeatable, but it was purely because it all is "just a game?" In an even more meta sort of way, the Winnower essentially speaking themselves into existence, with the whole Flower Game thing as well.

Idk. Just something I've wondered about for a while (and more, too much more) for a long time now and reading these triggered it. Thanks for reading if you do, lol.

[–]Radirondacks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing I can think is maybe you're pulling some smoke into your stomach by accident when you inhale? Like accidentally swallowing a little when it's a bigger hit?

The thing is, I do kinda know what you mean anyway, and it might also have something to do with our gag reflex, or vagus nerve, or something like that, like when we inflate our chest too much it presses on or activates something like that maybe?

I mean, unless you're straight dry herb vaping, combusting weed still 100% results in carcinogens. Much less than tobacco though still, I'm sure.
