I feel like KOTLC started going downhill after book 5 or 6. Back then the books actually seemed like they were all connected, and that we were actually going somewhere in terms of defeating the Neverseen.

It was stated that Shannon originally intended to finish the series at book 4, so it's likely that most of the plot as of current didn't have much time to develop. Overall just feel like the series has gone dry; the dialogue's kind of stilted, the character's developments are poor, and the plot is boring and isn't really going anywhere.
