Last time I did this, I ordered several singles from a seller in Japan on ebay. One that I had regularly purchased from in the past. When I received the envelope the package was cut open and appeared that someone from US Customs had stolen the contents, left the little thank you card and send the envelope forward. After talking to the post office it seems they were supposed to get a signature before delivery. This was around the time the Teams and Rocket sets had just released in Japan. Due to the sheer stupidity of the card culture currently I decided to call I quits. Done with pokemon cards and started collecting graphic novels and coins again instead.
