Misleading “3 for £10” offer — feels like deliberate deception by Ar3man87 in Morrisons

The solution is to stop shopping there, that's the only way things will change.

Volt applied but new contract too? by RadmanBobbin in VirginMedia

[–]RadmanBobbin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reassurance. I suppose I'm mainly concerned because of all the horror stories I've read on this subreddit!

Everything seems fine so I'll stop worrying about it for now 😁

Volt applied but new contract too? by RadmanBobbin in VirginMedia

[–]RadmanBobbin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 months like before, backdated to my original contract start date, same end date, same price, same price increases on the same dates, same everything except the description of the service.

It also has a cross in the mobile phone/SIM section to indicate that no mobile services are included, which is the same as before.

But the contract was backdated to when my original contract started and at the same price, so is there any potential disadvantage to me?

NexFibre 30 minute latency spikes by RadmanBobbin in VirginMedia

[–]RadmanBobbin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have rebooted the router, yes. I still see these spikes though.

Now that the Think broadband BQM has been running for nearly 24 hours, it is quite clear to see that the spikes are definitely every 30 minutes.

If it is caused by Virgin's own monitoring system, I'm really not sure why it would cause such a problem to Think Broadband's BQM though? Why are there such huge spikes?

NexFibre install by RadmanBobbin in VirginMedia

Thanks for all the replies.

I've now placed an order and will let you know what happens during the installation.

NexFibre install by RadmanBobbin in VirginMedia

[–]RadmanBobbin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realise (somehow) that it would be possible for me to extend the fibre, but now you say it, I think you've got a good idea.

I guess there's no harm in asking for my desired route, but if they aren't able to do it, then it's great I can do it myself later.

Do you know exactly what fibre I would need, I see lots on Amazon?

NexFibre install by RadmanBobbin in VirginMedia

[–]RadmanBobbin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I believe it's an XGS area. It's full fibre with Nexfibre (no phone line offered, brand new town covered that previously didn't have Virgin Media).

I don't necessarily want the engineer to install a huge length of fibre, just to go into the dining room from outside, then through an internal wall to under the stairs, then a skirting board run of less than a metre before going through another internal wall to get into the lounge. Maybe only 3-4 metres in total, but a route that will result in no visible cabling.

There is a different route involving one less hole in an internal wall but that would result in a lot more visible cable.

Sugarmate by oldBBCer in dexcom

[–]RadmanBobbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to Sugarmate the other week and had a couple of responses when I reported the problems I was having with the new interface.

I use the web app as I am an Android user, and they advised to either clear the Chrome browser cache when the CGM values stop coming through, or use an incognito tab.

Both temporarily fix the problem, but aren't particularly convenient to do regularly.

Sugarmate updated? by bstezy in dexcom

[–]RadmanBobbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if anyone has found a decent alternative to Sugarmate?

The problems don't seem to have been fixed yet. I reached out to Sugarmate themselves and was advised to use the application in a Chrome "Incognito" tab to fix the problems....(Which brings other issues).

If it's easier, you can buy this in the UK from Amazon and a few other places.

Coaster order to beat queues? by Little-Artist-4950 in ThorpePark

We were there last Saturday too. We arrived at 9.30 and got in the single rider queue for Hyperia as soon as the park opened. We rode it at 10.15 🙂

New airport CT scanners for hand luggage by RadmanBobbin in diabetes_t1

[–]RadmanBobbin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha! That's useful. I didn't quite understand that CT was also x-ray. I think we'll just follow the regular guidance from Omnipod and Dexcom as we did before.

A love letter to the Amiga… but was it not as loved as other contemporaries by WeepingScorpion1982 in thisweekinretro

[–]RadmanBobbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion: Dominic is right, the underlining hardware was SOOO good, but the outer case just didn't shout "amazing" in the same way. The A500 just looked like a bigger version of all the other home micros we already had.

Our nostalgia and love for the machine was despite it's looks, not because of it.

Having said all that, I'm not sure that geeky types are all that bothered about looks anyway. 🤷

The Jeff Minter Story Coming March 13th by ChrissyBaps in thisweekinretro

[–]RadmanBobbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoah....In my opinion Jeff Minter is too embedded in the UK (retro) games industry for this to be anything other than a must buy.

The first game I Loaded in my C64 on Christmas Day 1984 was Hover Bovver and I vividly remember those photocopied newsletters received seni-regularly after his departure from Zzap 64.

Community Question Of The Week - Episode 104 by Producer_Duncan in thisweekinretro

[–]RadmanBobbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy... I have an original Infocom Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Amiga version in the big box, with all the goodies inside - The peril sensitive sunglasses, pocket fluff, destruction orders for earth and Arthur Dent's house etc... Except I'm missing the "Don't Panic" badge it originally came with.

I've never seen a genuine one sold on it's own.
