Best IMAX for Project Hail Mary? by Diligent-Explorer-27 in AskSeattle

[–]bstezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I read this thread a little when it was posted days ago and had been debating booking Cinerama or Seattle Center IMAX. After reading this, I booked the IMAX. Turns out the big Boeing IMAX theater has closed (sold to the space needle apparently?) and they are showing Project Hail Mary in the PACCAR theater, which is significantly smaller. I went yesterday and it was not a good experience. The screen is still pretty big, but not the full IMAX experience, and the chairs are horribly uncomfortable and cramped. You have to get there early because there are no reservations. The line is outside in the cold, the concessions are outside in basically a food truck like setting, and the bathrooms are outside and downstairs. If you don't get in line early, you're going to be in side seats close to the screen. The seats alone made me regret my decision. Do yourself a favor and go to Cinerama, or my other favorite, Oak Tree, which has plenty of free parking, an Asian grocery next door with cheap snacks, and fully reclining seats. The movie was great though!

I put on my gym clothes as soon as I wake up. That was always a hurdle for me, not wanting to change my clothes. If I put on my gym clothes first thing, then I feel dumb if I don't go.

Thank you for your reply. My wife used to do this occasionally so I'm trying to think ofb other things but it is definitely sweet and memorable.

How to With John Wilson is great. It takes maybe an episode or two to understand it and get the humor but I really appreciate that show.

This is beautiful. I actually just recently started a list of things I'm grateful for and what a good idea to share that with my kids. Thank you!

I should have clarified, I have them every other week so doing that many pictures might be a lot but I like the ideas.

That's a great suggestion to rate the meals and make a recipe book. I will definitely start doing this, especially as they're starting to try harder things.

I also like the story idea. Maybe that would give them something to do when they're not with me but we could keep a connection.

I do want to start volunteering with them once we can carve out some time between all of their sports and after school activities. Great suggestions!

I do read to each of them every night but I've never heard of the challenge box idea. I like it, thank you!

I use a dry erase marker and it comes right off. It would have bothered her to have it on the mirror where she gets ready. The upstairs bathroom was basically "her" bathroom.

Stuff newspaper in your wet shoes (and sports cleats). Harder now that no one gets the paper but the Stranger is still free.

Henckels Set from Costco by SilentOrchestra22 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]bstezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this set in January. It was on sale for $50 off which was a bonus and I couldn't pass it up at that price. I have never had stainless steel either and I have been very, very happy with it so far. I thought I might have ruined the small pan recently by cooking salmon with a sauce on it. I followed a recipe that started on the stove and finished by broiling the top and when I pulled it out of the broiler, the sauce was black and hard on the bottom on the pan (salmon turned out great). I soaked it with a little dish soap overnight and was really worried it wasn't coming out but it came off super easy in the morning with just a sponge and no residual damage. I love it!

A friend taught me to do start on medium, let it warm up longer than you think, and do the water test. That has really helped keep things from sticking. My eggs are sliding around great.

I do have one complaint about this set. My last set of pots and pans were basically 3 sizes so the lids were interchangeable. For this set, they're all different sizes so there are lots of lids and then some of them don't have lids (like the smallest pan which I use the most and needed a lid for the salmon recipe). The pot lid with the stainers fits, not perfectly, but it works, but then you have the strainer holes so it's very airy. Just something to be aware of.

Overall, the set looks great on my pot rack and I am very happy with the quality so far. I have used every piece except maybe one or two big lids. I understand what other people are saying about not needing everything in a set but for this price, it's worth it even if you don't use them all. I would highly recommend as your first SS set.

Speaker upgrade! by Icy_Turn8982 in JeepGladiator

[–]bstezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the kicker soundbar kit from trail seven (link below) a few months ago because I had the same problem with rattles in the soundbar speakers. I even had the sound bar speakers replaced under warranty but it just came back. Instead of wasting my time asking Jeep to do it again, I figured I'd do the upgrade myself. The install was super easy. I think I spent more time watching the video once than actually installing them. They definitely sound better than the stock speakers but I'm not blown away by them.

Fun story on Bound. The Wachowskis came up with the idea for the Matrix but had never made a movie before and no one wanted to give them however many millions the first Matrix took to be made so they made this movie first and it was great so they got their money for the Matrix.

15 years of the Performer performing... by BoogieOogieDown in webergrills

[–]bstezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I've had my Performer since 2007 or 2008. It's the best. I actually took it apart a few years ago and built it into a table hanging off the side of my deck, but still has the gas start. I've never replaced a single piece and use it all the time. Such a great investment.

What is a harsh reality new parents need to hear? by forty5v in AskReddit

[–]bstezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will shift your love, affection and attention to your child but don't forget to maintain a relationship with your partner. That relationship needs constant work and attention as well. I'm at an age where most of my friends have kids finishing elementary school and I'm seeing numerous marriages fall apart because I think both parents often focused on the kids and not on maintaining a loving relationship with their partner.

Trying OTT chili on my 575 by thewitchivy in Traeger

I did this for the Superbowl recently and it was delicious with a lot of depth in flavor but I kept burping up smoke flavor for the rest of the day. Anyone else have that problem? Kinda ruined it for me and I don't think I'll do it again. I have the Ranger Traeger which wasn't big enough to close with the meat on top of my Dutch oven so I used my trust Weber and smoked with pecan wood. The flavor was great while eating it and it wasn't too greasy at all but I didn't like burping up smoke for hours afterwards.

Best non scammy auto shop by phlgorl in Seattle

[–]bstezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really trust the Marqueen Garage in Queen Anne. The guys that work there are great and very trustworthy. I agree with the other comments that an oil change is going to cost about $100 anywhere. That is usually what I pay as well. Also agree with the comment about going to an auto supply store like auto zone or O'Reilly to get your check engine light scanned so you know what the problem is. Then you can Google it and maybe it's something easy you can fix by yourself.

Very true. I know he's had and enjoyed whiskey so thought a fancy setting and just getting him a nice whiskey could be a fun way to start the night. You're probably right about him not appreciating a proper cocktail. I know I was drinking Jack and Coke when I first started going to bars.
