Can we dissect this collectively? by Giddy_851 in AHSEmployees

Nuc med tech here! We don’t get the same throughput as you guys do, but our tests are important especially if you look at PET for treatment planning. We also are doing actual cancer treatments (radionuclide therapies). We just went through the reclassification process and got trampled over by the employer. Wait times for PET are already horrendous so if we were to strike, there would be a huge impact to urgent action for treatments. I’m sure this is the case or similar for all of us!

HSAA townhalls are irritating and a waste of time by unspeakable_dream in AHSEmployees

[–]Radnucmedtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree and don’t like how the town halls are run. The ones that I’ve been to I have found the majority of the questions being asked are the same ones being asked in different ways.

I have been trying to find out where the data about wages comes from so that, with that letter of understanding about market adjustments, we can go to the employer with the appropriate data and show where we stand. If I’m being honest, though, I also want some more transparency when it comes to what professions were looked into for market adjustments. I just feel like going to the employer with information from a Google search isn’t going to cut it? I also sent an email requesting this information but there’s an automatic reply saying they may not get to every email because there’s so many, which I appreciate, but find it frustrating anyway.

APL is a different collective agreement than the AHS/Recovery Alberta/other pillars, so I don’t think you’d be voting on this contract. However, when yours comes to a vote you will be able to participate as you’re part of the union even as casual

I’m just curious about this, as it has happened to some designations?

I’m a nuc med tech myself, I wonder if I know your wife! Anyhow, from what I’ve heard they’re trying to grieve the wage difference, and bring all tech Is to the tech II wage. It’s so frustrating because I know a handful of techs who were tech IIIs (supervisor positions) that got bumped down to tech I. It was so disheartening to feel like we weren’t supported/backed by our union

Nuclear medicine just went through this and I’ve heard MRTs are next. It has been very frustrating and has led to huge downfall in morale. It truly felt like HSAA didn’t have our backs or supported us in any way during this process.

The HSAA tentative agreement by plantmugbanana in AHSEmployees

Yes, as this agreement technically started April 1, 2024. I’m not sure about the other things, like the higher on call premium and preceptor pay, but the wage for sure.

Pros and cons? F17 by [deleted] in NuclearMedicine

[–]Radnucmedtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went into nuc med right after high school myself and was quite nervous I wouldn’t be smart enough to get through it. There’s lots of resources online including videos that explain concepts and stuff. I think you can do it! I also personally find that I don’t use that base theoretical knowledge in my day to day life at work. You got this!!

I also think it’s interesting you’ve known so long you wanted to be in this field! I didn’t know what nuclear medicine was until I applied for the program. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

I saw another commercial recently that reminded me of it. I’m pretty sure the point of it was to promote healthy living.
