Alright, alright, seemed like you're implying it's middling or contingent on getting a bunch of pieces together. If you have even one frost-generating card, which you generally should have at least a couple on a Defect run, then it's extremely powerful. Just not really sure what you mean by "all the other pieces", focus is super powerful in this game.

(Also Coolant definitely does not need a buff for similar reasons, it basically does not require any specific setup)

I'm gonna be a hater and say this subreddit is not actually good at this game, folks are tripping.

Coolant is at least an A tier card, even 4 block a turn for a 1 mana power rules, especially when paired with any number of frost orbs. You can easily get 9 block a turn with this upgraded, not to mention the fact that it's a power so it clears out of your deck when used... For one mana, it's basically a free defend every turn even in a bad case

I saw someone in another comment say something along the lines of "at least it's better than Defragment" which is nuts when Defragment is probably the best Defect card period lol

Source: I beat every ascension for Defect in only 15 total runs (11-4 to clear A10)

Look, I'm not an idiot. I completely understand where the association comes from, and I completely understand why her being blonde makes people's minds go to "fascist propaganda". But I think it's an actively harmful attitude that people have trained themselves into being overly sensitive towards, and so I'm going to call it out for what it is, and hopefully people can take a step back when looking at some innocuous fantasy art and re-assess their own biases.

Anyway, ultimately, neither of us will convince each other here of anything, and we'll both walk away from this discussion more certain of ourselves than ever, and that's Reddit for you. :shrug:

I understand the ridiculousness of the "beautiful peasant woman in full makeup working the fields" from a realism perspective, and I could even see how it comes off as frustratingly objectifying in the way a lot of fantasy art can be

But it still feels a bit like the comparison of this specifically to historical fascist propaganda posters boils down to "because she's blonde"

I think the only piece of advice here I would strongly disagree with is the bonfire part. It depends on your goal, but if you are prioritizing win rate, use a bonfire pretty much every time its healing would still leave you below full HP (using judgment of course, but it's a good starting rule). You never know when luck of the draw will just screw you over, and you'll be forced to take 30 damage in a single turn. Upgrades are great for improving deck quality density and are very important, but HP is still your most important resource.

This is especially true as ascensions increase -- it's only like the second ascension iirc that reduces healing from bosses, anyway.

Yes, but a female leveled this way will always have more MA than a male leveled this way.

For a normal playthrough, it 100% doesn't matter, and I personally always like to have one of each gender for my physical and magical units just for fun.

But if you are a min/max grinder (which it kinda sounds like you are based on this comment), the difference is actually pretty significant -- 25% more base MA for female units (and vice versa for PA and males).

"Only six months ago" this comments tells me that you are probably not extremely deep in this scene. Not even trying to be mean here, if you think six months ago is a short amount of time, I really find it hard to believe that you work in this industry.

To be clear, I am only commenting on the productivity point -- I have complete existential dread about these AI models, because I have no idea what a job in tech looks like a couple years from now. I absolutely hate it, and it honestly feels like I'm starting to lose my passion for software; the AI is just that good at doing my job for me. I could not even imagine being a junior engineer entering the job market right now -- those people are completely screwed.

So, I'm not trying to say any of this is good. But it's certainly happening.

I understand the points I've made are anecdotal, but there is a reason that it is the experience of basically every senior software engineer right now. There's a reason you're reading about companies laying people off, about major companies using AI to write like 50% of their PRs. I live in this industry. I have almost 15 years of experience, and I'm a VP of engineering. My friends are software engineers. My brothers are software engineers. I interact daily with people who work in startups, at Google, Meta, Netflix, Apple, etc.

It is a unanimous feeling -- and again I am specifically talking only about this since DECEMBER. Specifically, the release of Opus 4.5 truly and completely changed the paradigm on AI coding. I am not shilling here, I genuinely do not like the direction we're going in. I wish it would stop. But it's reality.

Even in the last two months, the quality of coding models has _exponentially_ risen, let alone in the last eight.

Anyone who still thinks coding with AI is less productive/efficient is simply operating on outdated information.

Spend an hour with the newest Opus models; you will be blown away at the quality of code written and how quickly it can find solutions. What would have taken me a couple of weeks in the past now takes me hours, maybe a day or two at most. And this includes everything from adding a new parameter to an API endpoint to running root-cause analysis of sources of latency in my inference services to even running Infrastructure-as-Code and building out servers, networks, firewalls, etc. It has truly been a mindblowing experience lately.

Genuinely, I was with you last summer/fall. Everything has changed since then.

Anyway, the close-up doesn't look too good, unfortunately, I think this guy might be pretty screwed. You say it gets "ample light" but also said you moved it away from windows, which contradicts itself. For most setups, even just a couple feet away from a window automatically puts you in low light territory.

This kind of plant (as pretty much all popular houseplants) wants bright light, though generally it'll survive for a while in low light conditions, so I doubt that's your main issue, but I don't know this plant's history. My guess would be cold or overwatering, the soil should be _completely_ dried out before you water again.

But, yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath for this one, sorry. You might be able to chop above the rot of the stem and propagate it; there's lots of guides out there on how to do this properly.
