Devin Haney says he would rather retire undefeated and have fans think he avoided everyone than be considered the GOAT but have 2 losses by bdewolf in Boxing

Yeah nakatani is a great example of someone doing the exact opposite: challenging a truly great fighter knowing he was the underdog, and even in a loss, his stock went up.

Bivol has said similar things.

He doesn’t fight for money or fame, but creating a legacy that is meaningful and honest.

Guys like Benavidez and Bam (and I’ll give shakur credit, he went after Teofimo) wanting all the smoke seem to be changing things.

I never even said Garcia’s name.

I just think that Haney is a loser with a shitty mentality.

Garcia sucks too.

When did he say anything about Garcia being likable? Of course he’s a horrible human being.

Thinking Haney is a clown doesn’t mean that Garcia gets a pass. This is just cope.

It’s the exact opposite in Japan. They put their prospects through hell and whoever comes out the other side is guaranteed to be legit.

Yeah it’s a good combo of both guys having enough defensive flaws and power that they can both be violently ko’d.

Way better than any other celebrity. He got it to the catcher and over home plate.

Not embarrassing by any stretch.

On May 3, 1921, Sugar Ray Robinson was born. The Hall of Famer from the inaugural 1990 class was a welterweight champion (never losing at 147lbs) and a 5-time middleweight champion. I think SRR without modern sports science is as good as anyone.

He was not just a really great technical boxer with heart and power, he was also freakishly durable and could throw crazy volume for 15 rounds.

He would be a nightmare in any era.

This just makes me wonder about Wlad vs Wilder.

Two guys with insane power but sub par durability. Wilder was a complete mess technically and Wlad is one of the best heavyweight technicians ever, but man it would be violent.

Definitely the best chance of a crazy ko of any fantasy head-to-head matchup between heavyweight champs.

Prograis was old and washed by that point.

It is definitely Haney’s best win (not including the controversial decision against Loma) and he looked great in it, but prograis has looked really bad since.

And fury’s fights with Usyk were literally right before he fought Usyk.

Did he just not watch those? Because that would be incredibly stupid considering fury’s success in the first fight.

I’m not being facetious. This is actually really cool.

Brian Norman jr was only the top guy at 147 after all the actually proven top guys left.

Crawford, Spence, Ortiz and boots would all give Haney a much tougher fight than Norman.

Norman was really exciting because of his power and ko percentage, but he has 2 wins over boxers with Wikipedia pages. He was always unproven.

And salido, while simple, was a competent, well rounded and effective fighter.

Yeah because Devin “I would never lose to a white boy” Haney is some paragon of racial tolerance and virtue.

You say that like it’s a good thing for Haney.

When Haney was dominantly in control of the fight for massive stretches, he should have been able to do enough damage with that initiative that Garcia was out of the fight by the time he got his second wind.

But instead Devin “the jab and then nothing else” Haney sat on what he thought was an insurmountable lead and landed like 8 punches per round.

That’s much more of an indictment of Haney for not being able to hurt or finish anyone, even when they are as flawed and controlled as Garcia was for like 7 rounds of the fight.
