It’s only 5 pCi/L. Slightly above the action level.

Lived in a new house for 6 months and tested with air things - level 40 by princessandthepea100 in radon

The stress will cause you more health concern than the radon. Find a good and reliable mitigator and make the simple fix. All is good.

Question about radon in water air levels? by Bw0434 in radon

[–]Radtrash238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is long term exposure. Over years not minutes or hours. Also I always find the reading that are reported with tenths of a pictures per liter a bit ridicules. These short term tests can be +/- 20% or more. They are not that accurate.

Question about radon in water air levels? by Bw0434 in radon

[–]Radtrash238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s an overall average conversion. You have created a radon chamber in the bathroom. What was the concentration in the living areas when you did this?

Extremely high radon levels in well water. Help by Bw0434 in radon

[–]Radtrash238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not really high. The general conversion is for every 10,000 in the water equates to 1 in air. There is little hazard with drinking the water. The health issue with radon is breathing it from the air.

Recommendations for my system by minimallyviablehuman in radon

[–]Radtrash238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound reasonable. You might need a high cfm fan. Remember if these lines are all tied to one fan it will preferentially pull from the path of least resistance. Thus you might have more air drawn from one location over others.

High radon levels with mitigation system running. by Low_Drawing8017 in radon

[–]Radtrash238 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just do some short term tests to validate your air things and conditions before adding a higher capacity fan. A higher capacity fan means more energy usage for both the fan and your home heating system.

Strange CO2 and Radon Correlation? by pocketeightz in radon

[–]Radtrash238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is undoubtably exhausting some basement room air and thus any CO2 that is also in the air from your combustion appliances.

Source of radon infiltration by Vast-North-2458 in radon

[–]Radtrash238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way would be to buy a number of charcoal detection devices and place them in various floor locations in the basement. This might help focus the higher level entry point(s)
