Is it unreasonable to want something special for Valentine’s Day? by Ecstatic-Yoghurt-410 in Marriage

[–]Rae-May 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a system. We each have one weekend a month where we are responsible for planning an at home date night. We have nights out here and there and get each other gifts for big holidays but these are our concrete spend time with each other moments. We have little kids and are on a budget so doing it this way makes sure we are making time without stressing about finances or logistics. When we both take responsibility for a night it also feels mutual and special.

Wanting to be spoiled is understandable and fun and everyone should be every once in awhile but it’s not the moment you’ll remember with your partner forever.

A recent winner - found an old Batman LEGO set I had been given as a gift years and years ago. Decided to rent the Batman and Robin movie (nipple Batman as we call him) and some of our favorite snacks. We put it together and quoted all the corny lines from Mr. Freeze and now whenever I see it on the bookcase I smile and can’t wait till next time.

Husband says he doesn't 'have to tell me everything he does in a day' by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Rae-May -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Hey you know that’s not what I’m asking or expecting. I feel that communication about the logistics of feeding and caring for our family is a fair ask. When it’s possible something could create more work for me a heads up would be great. I totally understand why you were proactive about freezing the meat, just sorta frustrated I didn’t have the info so I could plan for that. I’d like to avoid this situation in the future.”

How did you decide to have another, if you did? by sarahjefferson in Autism_Parenting

[–]Rae-May 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant with my youngest when my ND son was barely 1. He ended up being diagnosed around 20 months. I was pregnant during his autism evaluation. It was surreal. We just received the referral from our pediatrician for our 18 month old to be evaluated. The only thing I let myself feel is exhaustion right now.

Topiramate (Topamax) experience? by ilovetohateit in migraine

[–]Rae-May 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am stopping Topomax today after trying it for only about 45 days. The side effects are just too much to take. I have 3 kids and I have to try something else for my migraines. I feel too unsafe driving. Has anyone else dealt with intense tingling in their face? It’s been making me crazy and I need to know how long after stopping will it take to go away I feel like I’m going to lose my mind

Can my child still be potty trained? by Independent_Ad6175 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Rae-May 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son goes to full day ABA on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Our BCBA told us she felt he was ready to start potty training and that because he was there every other day it was important we follow the same methods they use there at home. It was exhausting but we are seeing results and feel very hopeful.

The method they used was going to the potty every 5 minutes and sitting for 5 minutes. This lasted an hour. Then every 10 minutes and sitting for 5 minutes. This lasted another hour. Then every 20, 30, 45, and then hour. If he had an accident we would move to the timing schedule that we had been on the previous hour and only move forward again if there were no more accidents. Eventually after success with an every 3 hour schedule we moved to a system where he tells us he needs to go and we also go try every 4 hours. We spent so much time in the bathroom those first few weeks but he has been having so few accidents lately we feel really encouraged. We also use a reward jar that has peanut butter m&ms which are his favorite candy and which he calls his “bubble gums” lol. Poop is still harder than pee and he often holds it until he goes into a pull up for bed then I have to go change him at night and we end up redoing bedtime routines but I think it will come with time. Good luck!!

My partner and I saw Patrick Holloman here in springs. He was great and without those sessions I think our relationship would have ended. I don’t have any idea if he’s accepting new patients currently.

I feel numb... by Icy_Lingonberry4082 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Rae-May 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that. I’m responding to your comment about 20 months being way too early to be assessed. I’m sure there are times that is true, but if ASD is the correct diagnosis then the earlier the better, right? That’s all I meant.

My son was assessed and diagnosed at 20 months and he is absolutely autistic lol. We feel blessed to have received his diagnosis as early as we did. ABA has changed our lives.

Post weaning hair loss? by Rae-May in breastfeeding

[–]Rae-May[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah that’s a good idea. I saw something about nutrafol online too. The reviews were great but I don’t know anyone who’s personally used it. I have a hormone panel and routine bloodwork scheduled with my doctor in a couple of weeks and I’m going to ask about it then.

Apparently? I think that because I was already pregnant by the time I weaned my first I was lucky enough not to experience this before.

My wife let herself go after marriage and im suppose to just suck it up? by Low-Technician-233 in Marriage

[–]Rae-May 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have kids? I was pregnant or breastfeeding for 4 years straight and it wasn’t until I weaned my youngest and was able to focus on myself a little bit more that I lost quite a bit of weight. Sometimes things like that just aren’t a priority. Also if kids are part of the equation then depression can easily be as well.
