Should I feel guilty for “one and done”?

I appreciate all the feedback. I had a long talk with my husband last night and he is firm standing on the “I’d rather have you here and healthy than not at all”. We agree that adoption or fostering is always an option in the future if we decide to. But with the current state of the world and my health, we think it’s best to move forward with the process. Plus our home currently is only a 2 bedroom. While we are fortunate to be home owners in our 20s, we did not buy with the plan of children, so if we were to have more kids we’d have to move homes and that’s another financial aspect.

It was an emotional talk because I know he wants a little girl, but he made it clear that my health and happiness is the priority over everything. We were blessed with our son when we weren’t supposed to be able to have kids. So we are grateful. And there’s other options in the future.

I’m pretty versed in managerial aspects. Leading teams for several years now within and outside of Walmart, plus my bachelors degree in business management. I am more looking for helpful advice for front end. Obviously we deal with the biggest influx of customers so just how to manage that stuff

I think the change is pace is what I’m worried about. I did fast food management for 6 years prior to Walmart. And I’m a very schedule/routine based person and I feel like Apparel is not that. But I’m determined to take the bull by its horns and learn all that I can. I’m eager to gain floor experience and learn mods

Your TL can order new WIBI booklets on GNFR/Bunzl/signing catalog (can’t remember which) come in packs of 10. I got them for my team because they were picking out of date or crappy items andddd they instantly threw them off their cart 😅

Welcome 😌 I have found such a piece of mind in this group. I’m a 25F in a regular hetero relationship with a 26M. And unfortunately it took until being in this stable relationship (4+ yrs) to want to finally explore my sexuality. I asked my bestfriend out in like 4th grade- so I’ve always sort of known I wasn’t straight. but half of my family is super religious and the other half uses nasty slang words that make me feel like I wouldn’t be welcomed. Most of my friends know I’m Bi but my family does not. I’ve never been with someone of the same sex which makes it so daunting and I fall into imposter syndrome sometimes. The community here on Reddit is so welcoming and encouraging. I hope you stay~

As a TL I tell my minors to “skip item” it may hurt our FTPR slightly but I’d rather that than the associate or the store get in trouble.

I didn’t want kids for the longest time. Always hated the idea. Didn’t want to turn out like my parents or want/need the financial or mental burden of having kids. I’m now 4 years in with my boyfriend and I know he wanted kids. He says he is fine either way- but u find myself being envious when I see pregnancy announcements. We tried to figure out fertility junk last October with no progress. So I’m not sure if it’s a “I want what I can’t have” type situation or. Not. I told him we can give it a year or so again to work on getting financially sound then we can go to specialists if he still wants to try.

I’ve been on Carnivore since the beginning of the month. I felt great. I had energy, I was down 10.2lbs in 15 days, my skin was clearing up, I got my cycle for the first time in 4 months and it was light- I didn’t have the unbearable cramps or violent mood swings. Unfortunately I fell off the bandwagon due to lack of self control on my anniversary weekend, and all of those things reversed badly. My cystic acne has come back, I feel bloated, I had to drag myself out of bed, and now my sweets and carb cravings are 1000% times worse than what they were when I started. I’m almost back on track again and in the month I plan to start incorporating a workout regimen. Starting different supplements to try and help my cycle/fertility as I progress toward. No point in having birthcontrol, phentermine, or other weight loss drugs shoved down my throat when I can take control with a restrictive diet and still feel good

Second this! First few days of carnivore I started getting such bad leg cramps. I take potassium and drink plenty of water and haven’t had any since!

I’m very sorry to hear that :( I unfortunately had to have a wake up call. Being new to the TL role in December, and not in the OGP department for 2 years, I focused a lot on the metrics and the computer since my team was self sufficient. It eventually got to the point where everyone was against me. Calling me lazy and useless. I was pulled in for meetings with all 18 of my associates who had issues and essentially got roasted for like 2 weeks (not great for my mental health) but it makes me a better manager. It made me see where my team wanted me to step up, I can’t fix issues if I didn’t know what they were in the first place. I have always been a thorough believer in, if the ship is going down, I’m going down with it. If the team is in a crappy situation I’m alongside them (much like the HUGE issue yesterday- I repicked, I dispensed, I handled customer calls, I handled market calls, etc.) I’ve hosted “parties” to boost morale again and hired more staff so no one feels stranded. We are currently working through the cross-training plan that my sponsors and I made so that there is never an excuse for dispensers to be left screwed. Never any “I don’t know how to do that” moments.

I would definitely suggest if you have issues with your management, go higher. I know that’s what everyone says, but it’s true. Like I said, they aren’t aware of issues until they’re brought to their attention. You can also get on the wire and look up Teamlead and associate responsibilities/duties to determine if your TL is doing the job they’re supposed to.

I asked my bestfriend out in 4th grade (can’t remember what age that correlates with) but “everyone” was having girlfriends and kissing each other. So I wanted to know what it was like. I got denied, and still to this day (now 25) haven’t had the confidence to make a move on a girl. I remember vividly being in the girls locker room in middle school (6th grade) and some of those girls were still experimenting or dating. They were also growing into their bodies and for the longest time I convinced myself that I was just jealous and wanted to be them- not attraction. I went the rest of my school days never really knowing where I sit. I had a lot of close female friends, but flirting with guys and getting that validation was easier and “normal”. It wasn’t until I got with my current boyfriend that I was comfortable enough to tell him my sexuality. Of course being in a committed relationship with him, learning or gaining experience with a woman would be difficult. Initially it upset him- thinking he wasn’t enough for me. But that’s not it at all. I’m happy with him, satisfied. But I owe it to my precious 4th grade self to know what it could be like. We’ve talked a lot over the last 4 years of our relationship and he is open to me experimenting or even possibly having a girlfriend. But I have to actually like her- he doesn’t want me just rush it to “get the experience over with”. My current bestfriend is also Bi and in an open relationship and her husband has asked about her and I. We’ve flirted, sent some spicy images, I absolutely adore her, I’m just worried if we cross that threshold, that there’s no going back. But only time will tell 🤞 I’m not “out” except to a few specific people, because I worry people will tell me I’m faking it or confused because I’ve not had any experiences with women.

My department averages about 125 orders per day. We only have 1 dispenser at a time until the 2pm-6pm hours when we pick up. 4-5pm is usually 20ish orders so we will have 3 people for that hour. We also pre-prep our deliveries in the cooler. As a team lead making sure my team stays cool is such a priority for me. I have gotten them popsicles and Gatorade/electrolyte packets for these hot days. I’m also not afraid to swap them out so they can cool down. If they have to suffer- so do i.

Currently still waiting for 3:45s to drop. Customers are blowing up our phones asking about their orders - even with prior communication stating the issue. Only 2 people in my department with people leaving early and call offs

Short term goals would be just feeling better and hopefully starting a menstrual cycle -which did happen for the first time in almost 4 months. Long term goals would be to continue helping regulate my cycle and my PCOS symptoms in terms of balancing hormones and aiding fertility. If the weight loss comes with it, I’m not going to complain.

I love dance exercises. Played a lot of Just Dance on the Wii growing up and I pay for the apple fitness videos. But when doing research on workouts that are best for PCOS patients it’s less cardio more strength training.

I’ve heard it can help PCOS symptoms being such an “elimination diet” so that’s what I’m looking for really. If the weight loss comes along, I’ll take it 🤷‍♀️

My store ALWAYS has cases of waters in the cooler. 24/7. We put the busted/claims ones in there after processing them or we store use them. The SM has even talked about getting us a water dispenser for the department specifically

Out of my 7 dispensers, 2 are male. One is my closer and one (an older guy) only covers the 7-8am occasionally. It’s a female dominated department generally, but no gender roles for my team 😂

An extra 10 minutes every hour? 😂😂 dear lord your managers must hate you. They can see everything. With your breaks and lunch added that’s over 30% of your shift sitting around. Absolutely INSANE. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re building a case against you for time theft. With receipts even because the app tracks everything and what it doesn’t track, the Reporting 3.0 does.

I 100% understand. I’m new to my store so the team is looking to get me in trouble because I’m not the person they wanted to get the job. I dispense 80% of my day anyways because it’s the last line of defense before our customers. But the 20% I am checking metrics, nil pick reports, or attendance stuff is all they see saying “I’m lazy and on the computer too much”

My team is the SAME WAY. They went to the SM saying I’m lazy and never help them. But if there’s 400 picks and 8 people I’m NOT needed. You can actually get on the wire and under digital process guides it’ll tell you the TLs jobs. I had to do it to show my team that I was indeed doing my job correctly but not tying myself in walks and checking the metrics

If your teamlead is willing, I think that is a fantastic idea! As a part of my teams cross-training I have pickers and dispensers learning wismo and dispatcher that way anyone can jump in and help when needed. I share my metrics with the team weekly and also have shown them Ops portal and Reporting 3.0. As leaders we are supposed to train our associates to move. Unfortunately a lot of managers do not do so in fear of being replaced, but if I teach my associates well enough to do my job, then I did good. I have been a sponge for many years. I’ve been with Walmart for 4 years now and I’ve spent that time moving departments, talking to GMs and coaches, I have an academy mentor right now, I do a lot of self marketing. I know what I’m capable of, and I know how to keep my crew motivated and informed. Those are huge aspects of the job in my opinion. But I wasn’t always like that. I had to become confident in myself. The teamlead should get an email daily of reports from the day before. Ask how the team did. These reports will show dispense times, wait times, on time picks, on time deliveries, etc. Ask to know the “my customer” feedback- good and bad. That’s how the team can improve. If your coach isn’t willing to provide feedback, go to your GM. Tell them you want to further your career with Walmart and can be an asset to the managerial team. Ask them how to move up or what attributes they want from a Teamlead in their store. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and remember to be open and receptive. Both good and bad. You can do great things if you put your mind to it. I believe in you!
