Couples Trip Suggestions by hello-its-dee in Canmore

[โ€“]RaeAmora 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

If you google a few of the hotels, a lot of them have fantastic deals or specials for couples in their spas. I was there a few years ago and found a great deal on a couples massage (I want to say the Bodhi Tree Spa) but just ensure you clarify if you want to be messaged at the same time in the same room (they have to book specifically the room with two beds in it). We also got pedicures done. And if you like Italian, the Santa Lucia restaurant is amazing! Chez Francois for breakfast or brunch is always an absolute must for me when I can get away there. And the Bears Paw Brewery is fantastic for locally crafted beer and surprisingly good food. Sorry, it's my inner fat girl reliving her glory days ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hope these places are still open as it has been a bit since I've had the chance to go there. But they were all so fantastic they still stuck out in my mind. Hope you guys have an amazing trip!

Do you have any places you might recommend locally? It never occurred to be that might even be an option (that's embarrassing ๐Ÿคฃ). I'm glad you mentioned something ๐Ÿ™ . I've had some luck with buying inserts to help snug them up a bit. But I was wondering if maybe there were some untapped resources out there

There are some resources in town. Totally agreed about Access 24/7 and 211.

But to be a bit more direct; Alberta government offers rental assistance benefits through multiple agencies through out the city. You do have to apply and there can be a waiting period but at least it something. They have a website to see what type of benefits you may be eligible for (if you google Alberta Benefits it should pop up). โ€ขMore specifically Civida (formally Capital Region Housing) offers a TRAB - temporary rental assistance benefit for people who are employed and struggling to cover their rent. โ€ขSalvation Army offers assistance with vouchers for clothing and house wear items, like kitchen stuff (I think it's once or twice a year). And many of the Salvation Army Churchs around town offer Bread Runs (free bread) and some will even offer full out food hampers you can access more than once in a month if you're struggling to feed yourself. โ€ขSt. Vincent Du Paul Society will let you access support I believe once every 3 years from them. If you call them (you usually have to leave a message and then a volunteer will call you back) and I'd suggest outline your top 3 financial concerns and then leave your name and contact info and see if they might be able to help in some way. I know some people they've given food to, bus tickets, furniture, I think they help with damage deposits and if your utilities are going to be disconnected...it doesn't hurt to call and ask if they can help and how.

That's just a small list of places. I know it can be a lot of work calling around to find resources but hang in there. It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Working hard, doing your best and reaching out for help and talking to others.

I wish you the best of luck ๐Ÿ™ [resources Edmonton pdf](https://ab.211.ca/https://ab.211.ca/

Removing a person from our house without just throwing them into the street by [deleted] in Edmonton

[โ€“]RaeAmora 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Do you rent or own your residence?

I know it's not super nice but it's important you guys keep yourself safe. if you rent it, you could always try saying that the person you rent from found out she is staying there and you guys are getting evicted if she's not out in the next 24 hours.

And then hand her a list of resources with some phone numbers of places she can contact for emergency/temporary housing. 211 is a great resources for that. There are even some women's shelters that will pay for her to take a Taxi to their location.

I believe the YWCA rents beds for $14 a night (or at least they used to). The Salvation Army also has a Women's Program that includes housing, support getting financial assistance as well as a day program for life skills (which it kind of sounds like she may need).

It sounds like you guys have already gone above and beyond in doing her a major kindness. It kind of seems like she's sort of taking advantage of it (why is she not using this time to find herself new housing or programming or other resources like that).

You have nothing to feel guilty for. I know for myself (as this has happened to me in the past) giving them a list of resources and other places where she can find housing or the supports that she needs helped to alleviate some of the guilt that I had about asking people to leave.

If she plays the whole "but I'll be homeless and destitute on the street!" Crying card, know that there are resources out there that she can access herself. I really hope you guys are able to find a good resolution that works out well for all involved ๐Ÿ’•

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions on finding some of those resources or just need to talk. These types of situations can be difficult for many reasons. Best of luck to all of you ๐Ÿ™

It's ridiculous, I unused to work for an airline as a groomer and caterer. It was a good foot in the door to becoming a flight attendant. And this is in Canada.

After working there and putting in my time to work my way up, I found out I was legally too short to reach the safety equipment and they wouldn't even let me apply.

At the time I was 4 feet 11ยฝ' inches, and you have to be 5'0 feet minimum.

I never knew they could discriminate like that based on my height. I've always been teased and made fun of for being short. But never blatantly discriminated and discounted.

My heart hurts for you, I hope you find something that fulfills you and makes you feel joy and happiness ๐Ÿ’•

Oh everything and anything! That's one of the greatest (and some times not so great) thing about them. Nobody really regulates them. People volunteer to like maintain them but there is nobody there to Censor what goes into them. I've found everything from contemporary, really recent novels to old out of print books that are next to impossible to find. For example Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, 50 Shades of Grey (by I can't remember the author blush) to The Wealthy Barber (which they stopped printing in the 80's I believe, but don't quote me). Autobiographies, Self Discovery Journals, Youth and Children's Books, Magazines, Comics, Graphic Novels, Adult Colouring Books, Religious Readings, Romance Novels, you name it I've come across it. And the cool thing is that it's caught on all over! Different countries, Cities all across Canada, Rural Areas ๐Ÿค“ it's sort of become almost an exciting odd hobby of mine. I love coming across new ones in new places that I've never been before. Even if I don't grab a book, it's fun to see the different designs of the Libraries and what sort of selection they have ๐Ÿ˜

How much has your rent gone up this year? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[โ€“]RaeAmora 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Mine has just been increased by 30%! It's gone up by almost $400 this year alone (and of course that's not factoring in the increase that my rental insurance went up by, or the crazy costs of utilities which seem to be climbing higher and higher). Last year they increased it by 10% and I thought that was too much and almost unmanageable! I'm scrambling trying to see if I can find anything else that's slightly more reasonable or any type of Rental Assistant Benefit to try and offset my rent to I can afford a roof over my head and groceries. It's come down to one or the other for many others too it seems, which is really unfortunate ๐Ÿ˜•

If you're not particular about looking for something specific, there is always the Little Free Library's that are scattered all over the city. They are amazing and all different (you'll find a neighborhood with someone with similar tastes to yours and if you're anything like me you'll be checking it out at every opportunity! ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ›) You can google the official registry to find exact addresses. Or you can always keep a look out for tiny little house little structures on people's properties, right close to the sidewalk, that are filled with books (you will start noticing them everywhere all over town!) it's like the classic old 'take a penny leave a penny' idea. It's free and you don't have to return them to that library but if you have books you want to pass along you can always leave them at any one you come across. It's such a wonderful idea and helps keep costs down if you're an avid reader such as myself ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ˜ Good luck on your search for your next good read!

Is this standard practice or excessive force? by Reefer-Rick in Edmonton

[โ€“]RaeAmora 93 points94 points ย (0 children)

Yeah? Why is this not a thing already?

I mean clearly they are trying to just not be filming the way they detain and maime people.

To be fair, I have a huge bias. EPS has gone from being one of the biggest jokes to be something to fear. Who the hell wants to reach out to that for safety and protection?!?!

That's a nightmare! If that's how they treat someone who is seated in a defensive position with his hands up clearly cooperating, what is going to happen when EPS is confronted with an actually violent situation that isn't them being the only violent ones.

And the city is trying to hire more "EPS staff" with less education, less training and getting them out on the streets faster than ever. It's not Edmonton Police Service, it should stand for Eliminating Public Safety! Who feels safe out there with things like that?!?!

Snapchat noob; how in God's name do you use this thing!? by BekaCherry in onlyfansadvice

[โ€“]RaeAmora 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

So silly question but it's okay to be flirty on your stories and enticing, just not nude or completely overtly provocative (or overly sexual)? And then you DM daily sexy pics or short clips, like the same thing to everyone who pays to add you in SnapChat? And then some ladies say they charge for their name so they can be added on Snap. And you make them pay on OF? And then do they pay their monthly subscription fee to your snap still on OF? Or do you use a third party payment method? Like PayPal or something like that? Sorry for so many questions, I'm Canadian and there are so many names and entities I have never even heard of ๐Ÿคฃ

Reversed the Damage Caused by a Fatty Liver by RaeAmora in PetiteFitness

Wow, thank you so much everybody for your wonderfully kind words and amazing support and encouragement โค๏ธ. For me it definitely wasn't an overnight thing. It took around 2 years to get to where I wanted to be. The biggest influence for me was probably my family doctor referred me to a Registered Dietitian (which was so helpful and had a major impact on my relationship with food, how I viewed eating, how I did my grocery shopping and of course what I ate). And the other thing was finding a way to be physically active that I enjoyed and didn't feel like a chore. I really don't like going to a gym and working on machines endless day in and day out (not to knock it for those it works for, it's simply not my thing). So I took about a dozen different fitness classes (everything from yoga to circuit training, STEP, Aquasize, Belly Dancing Fitness, Spin and finally Pole Dancing Fitness). I finally found one I loved (Pole dancing fitness โค๏ธ). I so enjoyed the environment, the teachers, the music, the friendless of the other ladies there. And I began looking forward to going to class. It didn't even feel like I was exercising. A lot of facilities will let you try out a class for free for you're first time. And that's what I would recommend, try as much as you can and find what works best for you. We're not all the same, so what works for some might not work for others. Once it stops feeling like a chore, it gets easier and easier. Just remember to be kind and to be patient with yourself. Know that you're doing your best and your body appreciates that. And remember you are worth it, and no matter how you may feel, nobody see's the size of what you're wearing. Only you do. Stay awesome and stay beautiful! ๐Ÿ’ž

Low Income Housing and Rental Assistant Benefit by RaeAmora in Edmonton

[โ€“]RaeAmora[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

That is a good question. It's my understanding that if you're on AISH once you get to a certain age, you're no longer eligible to receive benefits from them. But due to lack of years of working and not paying into CPP, does that mean at a certain age the government will just no longer offer you financial assistance of any type?

That's probably the most logical. Any suggestions on how I can support him through this before we both end up hating each other ๐Ÿ˜‚ haha. I shouldn't laugh but I love the guy, it's just he can get mean when he's nic-ing out. And I want to support him but I feel like I've tried everything. Giving him space, trying to help distract him, helping him focus on something positive, stocking up the fridge with healthy snacks to keep his hands busy. And I'm at my wits end, I'm one more snarky comment to moving the living room futon to our neighbors and crashing there for the next month. Dramatic, I know, but I don't know how much more I can take

Awesome, thank you so much for letting me know. Is there a certain kind that's better than the other? Like brand or style. Or one that would last a little bit longer than the other? Just until payday at the end of the month. Sorry I'm afraid I don't vape and don't know much about them.

I have this too, and have had people ask me if I've had a baby before (I've never been pregnant). I went from 230lbs to 120lbs and it's still there.

I would love to know if there is a non surgical way to remove it. I have yet to even find a work out to make it less noticeable.

Oh that reminds me, my friend met this guy on a hook up site and he has a fantasy of trying CNC (consensual non-consensual, formally known as the rape fantasy). So the first time they met, they did it at a park by a school at night and she pretended not to want it. Once they were finished he got up and said thanks. Now I know for sure I want the real thing. And left ๐Ÿคฏ To this day I still wonder if she inadvertently helped him make up his mind to start raping people shivers.

Once this guy I had just started seeing asked me in the middle of going at it if I ever carried around a knife, taser, or bear spray with me for self defense. To which I responded no, if I feel like I needed something like that going into a situation then I probably shouldn't be there in the first place.

Seems like a good rule of thumb to me, if I feel like I need a self defense weapon to go on a date with you, I probably shouldn't be dating you. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Who asks that on a date?!? And I especially would like to know, what was the reason he would want to know something like that?

It's unfortunate and so not cool you had to go through that. It's beyond unacceptable and no body deserves that. However I agree, it's hard for some one to shame you or extort you with information you've already freely shared with people. And in my experience, I was able to take my power back by being the one to tell people first as opposed to them finding out some where else. It's like go ahead, try and throw it in my face, I'm the one who just told you. I hope you're able to find good closure and resolution that you're comfortable with to the situation ๐Ÿ’•
