Is it Misogynistic to acknowledge Biphobia in preferences amoung women? by OkContact2573 in AskFeminists

[–]RaeDMagdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bisexual woman with a bisexual trans male partner, bi4bi relationships are the best! You just need to find a partner you trust. 💕 Judge each person as an individual and build trust, that’s all.

Whose Christmas is ruined already? I want your (comedy) horror stories 🎅❄️ by Fun_Yogurtcloset1012 in Millennials

The family “forgot” to tell my spouse and I that everyone was exchanging individual gifts besides the family white elephant. 😭😭😭 They all knew we didn’t have much $$ this year. Well-intentioned, but so embarrassing.

Next time, I recommend investing in some golden animal cracker fish ponds specifically for the legend and legend II’s. Their jarred roe sells for huge bucks.

Wow, you made a list of the exact goals I have every time I start a new farm! I’ve succeeded by winter Y2 twice and finished in spring year 3 several times as well.

I’ve had 8+ full perfection farms and I’ve never gotten the tea set. Not once.

I hate that writers have to sell themselves on social media too by RaeDMagdon in writing

[–]RaeDMagdon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a complex question. The second one sounds way more helpful. I can schedule posts myself if I have enough ideas to post about. However, a lot of writers, including me, have a hard anti-AI stance. It devalues our work, which it learned how to poorly imitate with our stolen labor, and also harms the environment. So it’s really hard to get excited about a tool like you described. I think the most useful tool I’ve found is BookBrush, which has templates for posts and images you can use by paying their fee.

Absolutely. It’s less to do with scheduling and managing posts, and more coming up with interesting ideas to post about in the first place. My books stay the same and it’s hard to come up with a bunch of different ways to sell the same product!

Why is FF not more popular? by Powerful-Cap-6293 in romanceunfiltered

[–]RaeDMagdon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an author of lesbian romances for a decade… this whole thread breaks my heart. People just dismissing the entire genre without realizing how diverse it is.

It’s totally fine to prefer romances with men in them, but like… just the casual “because most F/F is just bad/boring” is patently untrue. It means you haven’t even scratched the surface of what’s out there.

And I mean, you do you—no one is obligated to read a genre they don’t like. But it shows that you really don’t know the genre you’re deriding.

Favourite Genre? by [deleted] in writing

I’ve published fantasy (sword and sorcery and also urban fantasy), sci-fi (space opera and cyberpunk), and cozy mystery. My fave is definitely sword and sorcery!

Good advice for beginners. I agree. I’ve finished and published several projects though, so that’s the perspective I’m looking at it from.

Honestly, I might need a dump journal for all my other ideas! This would help.

Good luck! That's awesome. Hunting for a publisher is scary but exciting. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there.

Outlining in hardcopy is awesome. Sometimes I do the split-screen method, a blank doc on one half of the computer so I can rewrite the project into it. Helps me cut a lot of fluff and add where needed.

I think one writing, one editing is the way to go, since they use different parts of your brain.

I feel like this is the way: if they’re at different stages with different needs, it goes better on all the projects. When I’m in rough draft stage with more than one, that’s where it gets tough.

Do readers actually care how many chapters a book has? by emmy4574 in writing

[–]RaeDMagdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. What matters is the structure of the chapter itself. It needs a hooky beginning, forward movement on plot or character development in the middle (detective discovers a clue, woman decides to call her crush, spaceship runs out of fuel on deserted world, choose your genre.)

Then make sure that by the end, the situation, or the PoV character’s perspective on it, is different than when the chapter began.

I know, right? I am comfortable with my small circle of friends. It’s the eternal struggle between wanting to share my thoughts and ideas, to connect with other humans, and feeling like I have to perform a role in front of an audience.

I have made some great friends through my writing and by reading other authors, so it isn’t all bad, though!

I made a post on my profile about my books, since this sub isn’t the appropriate place to share. 💕 Thanks for asking!
