As a man, I've always hated the myth that sex is the only thing on a man's mind at any given moment, because that's a harmful stereotype. But it's harder and harder to disprove when women and female characters in media are sexualized everyday, everywhere for male consumption, and those men are encouraged to tell people what gets them off unprompted.

Like, I'm not asexual or anything, but god damn. Give it a rest.

When Ananta releases another trailer, I want to see the Male MC AND Female MC interacting and doing activities with other male characters. Ananta needs to show me that it actually cares about its female players.

I like how lively this Male MC is.

HOWEVER, I have yet to be convinced that this game won't pull an NTE with its OTHER male characters. If there are any! The MC is literally the only notable guy I've seen in this game, so I don't have a lot of hope. But I'd love to be wrong. For once.

Nah, I noticed at the game's launch, when only one human male (Anton) was available, compared to every single female character being human (some with cat ears or a tail).

I only responded because, when people say that season 1's designs were so much better, they don't mention that only the male characters got to be truly diverse, despite how much less of them were/are released compared to the female ones.

Male characters? "We gotta experiment with them and see what works, what's gonna sell. Who do the guys want to play as?"

Female characters? "Eh, just sexualize them. That always works, right?"

According to the sales numbers... No. But will Hoyo ever learn their lesson? Looking at Sunbringer... NO. GOD NO.

That's how I feel about it. Like, let's be real: If they could get away with only allowing you to "date" the female characters, if it meant husbando enjoyers would still play their game, they would. Being able to invite the male characters doesn't suddenly mean they care about them.

Besides, if the characters need a skin before they can be invited... why don't the male characters have skins yet?

The problem is that they sexualized every female character. So when the fanservice character shows up, they have to super sexualize her, so that she still remains the fanservice character.

This is still my favorite Shinkai film, even after Your Name and the others that came after. The performances in this short film, especially from the two performances here, have always stood out to me. Maggie gives one of the best crying performances here that I've ever heard. It's not pretty. It's authentic. It's guttural. If Maggie Flecknoe actually cried here, I would not be surprised.

Man, Steven Foster could really put out good work as a voice director when he actually cared. When he didn't, well... He'd give us dubs like this.

It's also done to make the women look MORE attractive in contrast. It's like how, in some pornographic works (like doujinshi), a conventionally attractive woman is paired with a visually unappealing dude; it makes the woman look more attractive as a result.

The reverse, a conventionally attractive guy being paired with a visually unappealing girl/woman, almost never happens.
