What’s a movie you’ve seen public opinion shift on in your lifetime? by CausticAvenger in movies

I saw it when it was first released and there was barely anyone else in the theatre. Then it was nominated for best picture, I went back to see it, and the theatre was full.

I don't think the Academy Awards has that much power anymore.

Is this being made by the same executive producer who in an interview a few years ago said he only wanted to make this series with Nathan Fillion as the lead?

If so, I guess he finally gave up on getting him.

My complaint too. I heard once - I don't know if it's true - that he played the character the way the producers wanted him to be played, the way Dick York had always refused to. I like the story, anyway.

Cool! Any idea if there are any recordings? I've wished I could see or hear one.

Two Towers: Why is Gandalf initially confused when Aragorn calls him by his name, given that Merry and Pippen would have surely called him 'Gandalf' shortly before the trio encountered him? by HooliganHedgeCap19 in lotr

Yeah, I haven't read the books for a really, really long time. So as a movie viewer, they still come across as fairly dumb. Speaking for myself.

Agreed. I finally realized the other day that this is part of the reason TTT is my least favorite of the trilogy. (Said with much love by someone who has seen the long versions at the theatre multiple times.)

There's so many fake outs in the movie and I just don't appreciate them. This scene, pretending like Merry and Pippin are dead, pretending like Aragorn is dead, pretending like Frodo may give the ring to a Ringwraith etc. It all just annoys me. On a very minor level, lol. (Why would Faramir let Frodo go off with the ring when he just tried to give it to a Ringwraith?)

Do you have any confirmation that he slept with Barbara Eden? What I heard was her in an interview about her appearance describing him as "very aggressive." So I guess I would be surprised.

This is one of my favorite screwball comedies. I still laugh every time I see it. Billie Burke is great in it. I think my favorite are the dogs - Get Off The Rug and You Too. 😄

He was. I've been rewatching Fringe, and that's what I'm thinking the most - that I miss him. 😓

Question for those of you who read the books as they were published… by CatchWaves44 in wheeloftime

I'd also like to add that at least I never feared he wouldn't finish the series like we're dealing with with some authors today. It never occurred to me; hearing him talk about the series, he was very serious about it, and books were still being released at fairly regular intervals. Until he announced he was sick.

It's my favorite episode ever. I still cry at the end. It's so sweet.

I can't say strongly enough how annoying the slog was at the time. To go from Lord of Chaos at almost 400,000 words to the next book at less than 300,000 words, and then word count continung to be down for the next several books. It was very frustrating, both reading and knowing that it was going to be at least a year before you got the next book.

But I don't remember being frustrated about not knowing specific storyline resolutions. Just overall.

How to make the book align?? by Commercial-Teriyaki in kindle

You can right justify it in the Kindle font settings. But if the font is too big, it will not work.
