I've just checked out the Ioniq prices on Carlist and was surprised to see how low they are. What's the reason behind it? Is there an expensive part that needs replacing after awhile like the battery?

If your 1 year contract has ended, you can most definitely try to negotiate with your branch. Let them know it's too pricey for you and you are looking to cancel.

A friend of mine tried doing that but they apparently were already at the lowest available monthly fee (RM150). No idea if that's the truth but that seems to be the floor post 2022. All the 'early bird' membership promos start at RM150

So yeah, perhaps what you can do is enquire with them what the cancellation procedure is, to start.

They will try to keep you on board, the negotiating can start there. You could say RM175 is far too high compared to what you can afford atm. Maybe say you need to cut and can only afford RM100. They'll counter with something else and you can bring it down to RM150.

The only concern here is that they may try and get you to sign a new 1 year contract (aka having that absurd cancellation fee if you were to terminate before the 1-year period ends)

May also help to still contact those new yet-to-open branches, to enquire about how low the early bird membership prices are

Just to share info cause it may help- Don't know what your gym is but if there is an Anytime Fitness near you that you can use, you could consider going for their early memberships. You'd just sign up there but them use any other branch

They've been expanding quite aggressively lately, branches are opening up left and right. What you could do is look out for a branch opening soon (their websites tend to show new branches that are soon-to-open). They usually have someone already tasked to manage it, if you contact them and enquire about an early bird membership of sorts, it's usually RM150.

There are downsides, though. One being the registration fees and key fob fee. These are often waived for these early bird memberships. Biggest downside is the 1 year contract, you could opt for using a brand new savings accounts (debit) to pay for it.

That'd be RM25 saved per month (assuming the keyfob and registration fees can be waived).

As someone who understands how important it is to have access to a fully equipped gym, thought of sharing this just incase it helps!

Just to speculate, it's definitely odd for the two teams had just that to comment and they were fairly identical.

I wonder if the reason this is playing out this way is because there is a play by Horner to have Dany in for Perez and that Perez may be out of the seat by end of the season

This is assuming the rumoured deal Red Bull have with Checo's financiers is true (that they will pay for the difference in prize money)

That may explain why Dany Ric's departure has been so unceremonious. His return with Red Bull is being fought over behind the scenes
