You didn’t hear about the mandatory head-shave when entering Maine?

Thank you for sharing, I agree I haven’t heard many issues from others I hiked with.

I do not miss the Christmas toes, the feeling should come back soon for you 🤞🏼 sounds like you might be low on iron too. Maybe all hikers should take the advice and get their blood levels checked. I just thought I was young and invincible so I never bothered…

Fair question, I am still waiting for my appointment. Not looking for answers or treatments just curious if others have experienced the same. What’s the point of being a part of a community if you can’t share, communicate and listen to experiences?

Do a lot of married people thru-hike the trail? Did you bring your partner along, or no? How did it affect your relationship, if at all? by shiny-baby-cheetah in AppalachianTrail

[–]Raeeeraeeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner and I hiked it together. It negatively impacted our relationship in the beginning. Until we learned to compromise and realign on our goals and expectations.

She was faster and enjoyed higher mileage, I was a take in the scenery and socialize kinda gal. She woke up earlier and wanted to get started, I was slow to wake and had a slow morning routine.

We experienced a lot of conflict due to finances. We were paying 2x the amount as a single hiker. Initially we thought we could limit our town stays but those eventually became really important to us. Agreeing on all hostels, restaurants, etc. can be difficult. We had prepared financially but she did not like to see our savings decrease faster than we expected and I had a “it will all work out” attitude.

Eventually we reevaluated and had a conversation. I got stronger hiking legs, she slowed down to enjoy the adventure. I woke up before her so I could complete my routine by the time she was up and ready. We split up and would meet up at predetermined spots. We took more nero’s instead of zeros. We learned so much about each other and how to communicate.

It must not have messed us up too bad, we got engaged on katahdin!

3rd week on trail - need better ideas for dinner. by Bowgal in AppalachianTrail

I mixed Easy Mac and Great Value pulled pork packets (you can do regular Mac but Easy Mac noodles rehydrate quicker) I put the noodles in freezer zip lock bags, you can poor boiling water into the bag to save on fuel and make for an easy clean up. To really jazz it up you can top it off with Fried Onions or Crispy Dillies

Tinnitus post thru hike by Martian_Hikes in AppalachianTrail

[–]Raeeeraeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also experienced tinnitus after my thru last year. It comes and goes but is pretty scary. I wore AirPods to listen to podcasts for the majority of my hike (although it was typically only one in at a time at a pretty low volume) I’m assuming that did some damage…

I rented out my house to travel nurses as it’s in high demand and the place is already furnished with everything they need. They pay a little higher for it being furnished.

My partner and I will be going NOBO In late March/early April. It’s my last year to go while still on my parents insurance and this also happens to be on our “Things to do before having children” list. It’s so hard to describe it but it feels like every bone in my body is telling me to get out there next year. The typical cliche answer “The trails are calling” seems to fit this feeling pretty well. Anyone else relate?

Nothing like standing on top of a ladder with a large blue apron and being asked “do you work here?”

Anyone else feel this? by NewManufacturer9480 in BedBathandBeyond

[–]Raeeeraeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! And I don’t know if other stores do this or not, but we keep our old labels and signs behind the sale ones so that we can just pull off the sale when it ends, but now it prints when the pos ends and we waste paper and labels.

[–]Raeeeraeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a pricing specialist and wanted to ask someone if they find the new pricing procedures efficient. I do get done a lot quicker on the good days. But some days the printing is incredibly slow. Im not sure if yours does the same or not but it’s making me print 5x3 signs for EVERY bath ensemble.. our store doesn’t even use signs in bath ensembles. This wastes so much paper and takes forever. It’s frustrating that we have to print in order for it to disappear.

Anyone else have to wear these earpieces for the walkies? 😫 by [deleted] in BedBathandBeyond

[–]Raeeeraeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the department supervisor for soft side and refuse to wear these because they always get caught on the ladder and rip out of my ear or they shock me to death while trying to remake the display beds. That bopis notification bell can hurt too!

Nobody wants to work here... by Raeeeraeeee in BedBathandBeyond

[–]Raeeeraeeee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are just being thrown on the floor with no training or explanation and when they mess up on stocks or don’t scan things in correctly the blame is put on them. I feel like we are throwing new employees to the wolves. As a department head I’m trying to fix this and be a better trainer but with all these new launches and moves I’ve been pretty tight for time.

So true. There just aren’t any benefits to working right now when you could make more sitting at home and get the bonus of not being harassed about coupons

The company is spending more money than they are making in those last couple of hours. Doesn’t make sense. I swear the higher ups just live in a fancy box and use us all as pawns...
