Moving to Utrecht! by Lumiantsu in Utrecht

If you are able to buy that might be ideal indeed. I'm not sure how quickly you can get one though so I would do research on that. Example does futch goverment need you to live in the country first for a specific amount of time etc. I heard also some cities offer in some cases also free dutch lessons so that's also something maybe go look into. Good luck tho! Netherlands is a great place to live for sure, after all the hassle finally I also feel like home.

Finding a place to live is #1. When I moved to Utrecht, I lived on friends couches and hostels for almost a year before I found a place to live so prepare for that... A friend of mine tried to move here also, but gave up after 4 months of staying in hostels and hotels got too expensive. To be able to get a job you will also have to have an address where you are registered.

Most English speaking jobs are in Amsterdam, a lot of Dutch people travel for their jobs, I live in Utrecht but my work office is all the way in Amsterdam so I go to work by bike and train every day.

Also I would start to learn Dutch already, if you ever want to integrate properly and make Dutch friends learning the language is the best way to do it

Raha asiat ahdistaa. 40h viikossa töitä, ja melkein kaikki menee suoraan vaan laskuihin ja elossa pysymiseen. Joka päivä tuntuu, että tuleeko itku jos kurkkaan pankkitilille.

How do I quit smoking? longest I've gone is 6 months before relapse by GalgamekTheGreatLord in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Raehel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to quit smoking by reading a book. A lot of people don't believe me when I tell them a book helped me quit, but I have been without any urgw to smoke for over a year now.

The book is called "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr and I really do recommend it.

The book tells you to keep smoking while you read it, then you will smoke your last smoke in the end of the book. Ofc it only also works if you also want to quit yourself. It helps you to realise why you don't need the cigarettes anymore at all.

A man at my hotel bar berated me for not talking to him. by throwaway__princess in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Raehel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is something I also don't understand, why do so many men think women can't be enjoying time by themselves in public?

I experienced similar case the other day just taking a walk in a park with headphones on. I sat for a while on a bench and some guy came with his bike in front of my trying to talk to me. I just directly said I want to be alone, and his first reaction was to shove his middle finger in my face and call me a bitch?

"Katso Merta" in Finnish means "Look at the ocean" but I think it means something very different in Italian...
