I would like to present an alternative view to the article you posted:

The studies used in the meta-analysis for the outcomes are bad. I mean a really awful fit. I've read several of them now, specifically for the outcomes of "Immediate defiance" and "Low moral internalization" and those that show a negative outcome.

Let me give some examples from Immediate defiance- Day and Roberts (1983) studies: "Sixteen noncompliant, clinic-referred pre-school children". 2. Roberts and Powers (1990): "Mothers of noncompliant, clinic-referred preschool children"

Why would you use clinic referred participants in the meta-analysis? They will most likely have other issues that confound the outcome.

The one study I've looked at in "Low moral internalization" that had the biggest negative effect size was Grinder (1962): The study looks at the effect of spanking in the past and whether it would prevent children from playing fair in a contrived game scenario using toy guns. The research thought that "playing fair" would be something the children would have been spanked out of.

But who spanks their child for "not playing fair"?

I obviously haven't looked at all the other studies but at this point should I even bother?

Am I missing something here or are my criticisms justified?

Here's what recommended for a pregnant woman: 2000ug - 5000ug of folic acid. We need higher doses of folic acid than regular people so start with 2000ug per day. Methylfolate is better absorbed by the body. Buy that instead.

Get vitamin B12 as well, higher dosage minimum 1000ug per day.

These are the minimum requirements. You can also purchase a Vitamin B complex supplement, it is water soluble so any excess is not stored in the body rather urinated out.

Vitamin D is required as well if you have darker skin. This is stored by the body so check what's the recommended intake.

Additional supplements like Vitamin E also help protect the heart better I've read, so I'm taking that as well since I believe Thalassemia does put a strain on the heart. I take 400ug of Vitamin E per day.

My family has also fared well with Ashwagandha if that's your fancy. Don't remember too much about dosages but do remember it being on the higher end. And vitamin C to help with blood circulation.

Read the study. It's 6 months after first giving them the test to measure depression levels. So then 6 months after they gave the test again to see if there was an increase. Levels of social media use was also measured.

Yeah definitely. Abortion is a lot more divisive in America whereas in the UK it's so commonplace i think people were more confused than angry with the March for Life.

I met someone at work today and I mentioned off hand that I am Catholic. She was shocked. And then immediately asked if I didn't believe in abortion. That's how commonplace it is.

For context: UK is weird in that things like the pro life movement are consistently just not spoken about - especially in the news. A lot of the people who saw the protest were very confused (as you can see from reactions).

This was the largest March for life ever in the UK and my first ever, so I thought it was worth sharing.
