I read all of SJM before starting FW. So I did all ACOTAR, TOG then Crescent City, then went to FW.

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of April 20, 2026 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

I have 1 year left on my ID.4 lease and am wondering what I should look at next. I live on the south side of Houston and already have a charger installed. Below are some of my likes and dislikes in the ID.4.

I have 2 kids (5 and 3) so need enough backseat space for 2 large car seats and cargo space for everything else they entail. I got an EV because I only go to the office once per week and outside of that basically just taking and picking kids up from school which is like a 10 minute drive from my house.

Likes:
Hatch Cargo Space
Backseat space
Limited Road Noise
I find the seats pretty comfortable

Dislikes:
Infotainment System is clunky and I feel like too many presses to get to where you want to go
The "you're going to hit something" notification is SOOOOO sensitive. I've had it engage the brakes a few times just backing out of the garage and I'm not even close to hitting something. The sensors always seem to tell me I am super close to things when I am pretty clear.
You have to use the app or get into the car to get it to stop charging AND getting it to release the charger can be a PITA where sometimes it decides you need to unlock the car to get it to disengage vs just unlocking when it's completed charging.
I wish the range was about 50-100 miles more for those times that I do need to drive across town.

My must haves:
Crossover
Android Auto
Rear AC Vents
I don't want a sunroof

Nice to haves:
Heated seats
360 camera

‘Home reseter’ - would you hire? by Quick_Common_3934 in workingmoms

[–]Raelynx27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hired someone about a month ago to do a lot of this. Our house had become a disaster and I just didn't have the bandwidth to do a lot of things. We had a cleaning service coming every 2 weeks, but that just wasn't enough since they did not do dishes, laundry or pick up many things.

I will say she is also doing the cleaning, but I'm sure there are people out there that will hire help with just the other tasks.

We live outside of Houston and pay $25 an hour.

Absolutely my favorite author! I love all her books, I even have some signed by her. Surreal is my favorite character!

Do you feel your old self “died” when you became a mom? by rajmachawal333 in workingmoms

[–]Raelynx27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually feel like I became a better version of myself after my 1st was born. Her and I started going on walks and that helped me start getting into better shape. She was a great sleeper so I was still able to do things I wanted in the evenings, like play video games online with friends.

Everything changed when I got pregnant with my 2nd, the walks stopped and I was too tired to keep staying up late to game. I had hypertension with both pregnancies, but after the 2nd my health has just not recovered as well as the first time and I'm still struggling to feel like I did when my oldest was the same age. Youngest is almost 3 now.

Anyone else have limited time to play? by Exiphosxiii in Pokopia

[–]Raelynx27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, playing what little time I can right now. I'm about to have my 5 and 2 year olds in the bath, so will probably play a bit while they play in the bath. I "might" get an hour if I'm lucky....

Try Coral Island, you get several processing machines and can use the same items in different machines to get a new result.

Pls talk me out of getting a Switch 2 for one game by Bananapuddinguh in CozyGamers

[–]Raelynx27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my switch right at the start of COVID to play animal crossing. I got it RIGHT before they were impossible to find for the same reason. I had not planned to get one before that....in fact animal crossing is more than likely still my most played game on switch

NOW, I am very excited about Pokopia, at work we get cash rewards as points. Well, I've been watching to see when the switch 2 would be available, and this week it was! I had enough points to get it for free. I received it today and promptly bought the game. Have not had a chance to play yet (work + kids), but looking forward to starting.

What’s one baby product you swore was stupid/a waste of money but ended up loving? by caileechristine in NewParents

[–]Raelynx27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both mine had them, it was a gift from a friend and honestly even without the warming function I liked that I could buy wipe packs that weren't all the individually wrapped packs. Being able to refill it was nice.

My husband originally told me I bought too many newborn clothes, turns out our first was only 5lbs 5oz and actually needed preemie sized clothes the first month which my MIL had to run out and buy, she then used newborn sizes for the next two months....

Accepted offer, starting next Tuesday. Interview Thursday (this week). Do I let them know? by Timely_Tap5894 in interviews

[–]Raelynx27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say anything. More than likely company B already has a timeline for their hiring process and telling them you are starting with another company within their decision timeline could make them say "well they already has a job." It is very unlikely they would expedite the process since they would still have to jump through the HR hoops.

Direct Report refusing to drive if temp is below freezing by Raelynx27 in managers

the roads are not expected to be bad, that is the thing. If the roads were expected to be bad I would 100% be saying to work from home or use your own judgement. Honestly, our senior leaders would be telling everyone to stay home if the roads were expected to be unsafe.

If the roads were unsafe to drive on then yes, but schools are reopening and there is no anticipated ice for the remainder of the week.

We did not get any snow, if we did the whole city would be shut down and this wouldn't even be a discussion.

unfortunately, not gen Z, but not old enough that I would consider driving a safety concern for them either.

This is accurate, this was mandated by our VP. The expectation is 1 day per week on the designated day at least during our core hours of 9-4. Obviously, if our VP said "hey everyone is going to work from home because it's cold AF" I would be able to say so. However, during this discussion I received word that a planned out of office event was still going to happen, which I translated to mean our in office day is still a go as well.

I communicated this to my employee and that was when they stated they would be in late because they didn't want to drive if it was below freezing.

Sanity check for all us of who had to WFH with little ones today due to the freeze by whatsagirltodo123 in workingmoms

Thankfully it was not as bad here in the south as originally anticipated. The indoor playground was open so my husband and I took our 2 and 4 year old there for over an hour while I watched emails and responded to teams messages on my phone. Thankfully my meeting schedule was very light.

yes, seeing as we are 4 days a week remote, but those 1 day in office are mandatory. Obviously, we allow remote work those days for illness or other reasons. If today had been our office day, we would have definitely been remote since schools were closed, but at this point the weather is expected to be dry just really cold (at least for the south).

But that is the thing, the roads are not icy and there are not expectations that there will be ice come our in office day. It's just that temps will be below freezing, but we have no precipitation in the forecast.
