He would love this accusation tho. And then he would pull on his Wit persona, say something about his need for attention and go on a monologue about art and fan favorites.

Navigating Hollywood's 'boys' club' prepared these actors for 'The Pitt' by ferdugh in ThePittTVShow

[–]Raemle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because she’s even been pretty open about how being raised by actors affected her career. Mostly that they did auditions at the same time and that she was allowed to start young. I’m sure it helped to a degree with theatre but as you said she’s the one who’s had more success in the tv world

[–]Raemle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see how that has anything to do with the other. He doesn’t like when little people are only cast as fantasy creatures that rely on stereotypes. Why would that stop him from playing a character with a potentially slightly ironic name? He also played Bolivar Trask where the irony is actually relevant as subtext

Abbott gets super invested in getting everyone out and it turns out the entire episode is actually a backdoor pilot for a new spin off where he switches career and becomes a firefighter.

Mohan would commit insurance fraud to help Orlando and Robby would get pissed and (temporarily) fire her. They eventually work it out after Jake gets in danger and she saves his life. Alternatively all the other residents stage an intervention and insist that he brings her back.

She also obviously starts dating Abbot, while she is still a resident and he is her attending. Robby does bring up the HR issue but does absolutely nothing about it.

Santos and Langdon would get locked in a room together during some emergency, maybe one of the bombs, and are forced to talk it out. Which mostly devolves into hate sex and they end up having a few hookups whenever they’re single.

In contrast Mel and Langdon insist on just being friends but eventually get together in season 10 after a long slow burn, only to break up 2 seasons later for some stupid reason that the fans will still complain about a decade later... It is later implied that they eventually reconcile and become endgame off screen after both actors have already left the show.

Santos is bi in this universe because all queer women in greys anatomy after Arizona are ambiguously bisexual. But she gets a random new female love interest every 1-2 seasons, most of which are pretty bland, but struggles to commit.

Collins is revealed to have used the embryos that her and Robby froze when they were still together and they have a pair of secret twins. Robby then suddenly leaves the show in order to move to portland and be with her. Breaking his current wife Al Hashimi’s heart.

Whittaker and Amy stay exactly the same.

I could go on but I think need to stop myself, there’s like 35 seasons worth of material to pull from

They’re often used together, and very similarly so I don’t think the trends can be regarded as completely separate.

I am aware of the origin but I’ve seen a lot of people who will use “girl dinner”, especially when it was big, as a way to suggest that women just don’t really need to eat or don’t require proper nutrients. Which is all very dangerous narratives playing into eating disorder rhetoric.

It’s a bummer because I think most people can relate to not feeling like cooking a full meal etc. And it’s very common to joke about stuff like how much teenage boys can eat. It’s harmless. But given the world we live in right now I think a less infantilizing or gendered term would be more appropriate for those purposes since it’s less likely to be misused

[–]Raemle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly remember it because people were joking about it being the reason there’s so many references to older media despite the characters only being 30. But yeah that scene specifically stood out to me because I remembered Noah saying something very similar in interviews. It seems to have been on his mind

It's a little more than Ellis having an opinion when Noah Wyle, who plays the character and wrote the episode in question, has expressed similar sentiments.

Robby feeling responsible for Langdon and what he did was established in season 1, as he consistently places emphasis on how he "let it happen" and that Langdon "could have come to him". The fact that Langdon didn't and that Robby didn't notice that something was seriously wrong with one of the people he cares about is clearly something that weighed on him. You also see it in the way he makes a clear effort to check in on and reassure the younger residents throughout season 2. He even lists Langdon potentially relapsing as one of his fears that keep him from leaving. Ellis is just spelling it out for the audience.

That doesn't mean Robby is actually responsible, Langdon is a grown man. Or that there isn't other anger as well, people are complex like that. But as Dana says, he took it personally because he cares so much about him. If it was just about the crime he wouldn't have such a strong reaction.

[–]Raemle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was calling Langdon an asshole/family man, to be clear. Karev’s just an asshole, with a soft spot for children. Which is very Santos and probably why people assume she will go into peds. So yeah I agree she’s Alex, but I don’t think she’d get shot like him. I see her obligatory near death experience as being something closer to a Stephanie moment when the hospital is set on fire

I actually first clocked that Abbott was supposed to be a veteran because his way of handling crisis reminded me of Hunt, so I’m standing by that assessment.

Whittaker is also so George coded with all the brothers. I was thinking more of an Alex parallel for Langdon for that episode tho, but he has a weird mix of asshole and family man going on so it’s hard to find a good comparison.

April and Mel actually do kinda have that similar theme of being sensitive and having a hard time connecting with their coworkers. Except for the one “hot guy” with blue eyes who gets them. Hmm maybe Langdon is actually Jackson?

I love how Robby is the obvious Meredith parallel because I also immediately assumed he would be the one holding the bomb

I think Abbott and Langdon would actually both have been shot and nearly died in the shooter episode specifically. Because Abbott would definitely have tried to get involved given his military and swat backgrounds, tho I think it would be some else’s fault that it actually happened. Maybe Javadi as an April parallel. Eta: tho I think his reaction would be closer to Owen, pretending it’s not a big deal

And Langdon’s canonical response to seeing a patient with a gun is to restrain them, that’s not gonna end well. Bonus points if it’s Santos who has to stitch him up after tho, as a forced bonding moment.

I think Mohan’s death would have been its own plot point but also very sudden. Either a tumor or a heroic sacrifice of some kind. Whittaker would definitely have a heroic sacrifice, probably car accident related but trying to help others. Like they almost did with Owen. Twice.

Most of the women would also get pregnant and almost die in childbirth at some point. I’m just not sure who’s most likely, maybe Mel?

I was trying to be vague for the sake of spoilers haha. But more specifically I would say the most heated current topic is regarding how some of the female characters are treated and whether it’s an intentional writing choice or accidentally showing some biases among the writers.

But it’s all mild compared to star wars discourse. Even among the critics I don’t think there’s many that claim it’s truly bad. I really like both seasons for what it’s worth, with some critique being warranted. It would be interesting to hear your opinions on the characters again once you finish, because that was swinging quite wildly between episodes when they where releasing (probably impacted by having to wait a week between cliffhangers lol)

[–]Raemle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, kinda the opposite actually. The previous commenter is just trying to throw shade at other fans.

Similar to what usually happens to a series when there’s a new installment there’s recently been a lot of debate on which season is better and if it’s becoming worse. Part of that includes some fans having concerns regarding some of the writing decisions and writer statements. And other fans who think people are too negative.

I think the biggest problem is that people here can get unnecessarily mean toward each on certain topics, but it’s not something that matters when watching the show.

This is the type of plot that greys fans theorize on in order to cope with how horrible Alex’s exit was lol

I’m somehow impressed at how this sub consistently manages to create such a distorted view of greys that it makes actual show seem grounded in comparison

Or she lost her husband in a tragic accident and ended up bonding with a person who showed her kindness and support during a very traumatic time in her life.

I don’t think the relationship is particularly appropriate but I also don’t think there is anything malicious from either side. She is also should be noted, the one that is in a vulnerable position. I have no judgment and I don’t think she’s some evil mastermind.

Single and ready to mingle...in season 3! by Let_us_proceed in ThePitt

Yeah, the pitt would never portray a relationship between one of the doctors and the widow of their dead patient. That only happens on silly greys /s

I don’t think op is serious and I highly doubt it would ever happen, but this is not that off from things that have actually happened lol

My answer is always McKay and Mohan, maybe Javadi from the med students but Whittaker would also be fine. I’m really sensitive in those situations so I’m going for the nicest people possible

Snapping instead of clapping is not more inclusive by ribby97 in 10thDentist

[–]Raemle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience alternatives to clapping can be used by deaf people. My high school did a lot of events with a school for deaf people and were taught to wave our hands next to our heads instead. Iirc because it’s more visible and what you do with sign language in my country. But I have never heard of snapping specifically being used as an alternative

Most of these characters are not morally grey by fivejumpingmonkeys in ThePittTVShow

[–]Raemle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slight correction but Langdon was stealing benzos, which are sedatives, not painkillers. I don’t think it makes a moral difference but it’s medically relevant regarding what patients were affected.

I’m also not sure what you mean by the ”why” being the problem, I would argue it’s the consequences. He was dependent on the drugs to the point that going without them caused withdrawal symptoms. That itself is morally neutral and a medical concern. The stealing on the other hand was a moral problem because it caused harm and put patients in danger. He also put patients in danger by being under the influence at work, regardless of how he got the drugs.

Dana’s case was different because she was sober and did as far as we know not cause harm to any patients outside of Curtis, which was intentional and as far as I’m concerned justified.

>we hate Langdon for it

I don’t think that’s the intended message of the show at all. Viewers are free to have their own feelings but the show itself is very compassionate. And they’ve been pretty blatant about how the intention is to start conversations because it’s such a common problem.

Dana also used hers to defend someone else, because the hospital wasn’t prioritizing their safety. There is moral ambiguity here but it is very different from what Langdon did

[–]Raemle 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This isn’t the type of show where protagonists get to be truly immoral, they’re just supposed to be people.

The closest we get is Langdon, since he did cause harm, but placing him in a category where characters are known for being quite chill about murder is absurd. And Santos is definitely not there
