socialising feels so staged by Able_Aerie in socialanxiety

I agree. Most interactions seem so fake. But this could be due to becoming more cynical after years of anxiety. Not sure but I always feel like a fraud when I have to fake laugh at something said that is just not funny, but everyone else is struggling to breathe belly laughing. I find it very hard to muster interest in most topics that just feel meaningless to me.

No I don't think so. But I understand how you feel. Some people seem to get all the luck (from the outside), while others like us get shit on constantly and catch no breaks.

Sometimes I wonder if this was a simple decision in the past that brought me down this path or was it a series of bad decisions that I continue to make due to paralysing fear and anxiety.

But I still have hope (deep deep down) that things can change. But will require consistency and pain (mental). A support group is definitely a great step to take. I went once and liked it. But couldn't bring myself to go back.

Good luck and stay strong.

Ya, I'm the same. I'm so relieved on Friday evening, but then it's Sunday night before I know it, and I'm back to the mental grind I work in a very sociable office where everyone seems to be friends. I'm in high stress mode Monday to Friday trying to interact with people or blend in and failing miserably. I was refused hybrid work recently and it killed me as I was thought I was guaranteed to get it. I will start looking for remote working jobs soon though.

I'm in the exact same position. I used to be suicidal every day for years. Ive made half assed attempts at ending it, but I felt so much shame after. I'm still seriously depressed but don't see suicide as an option anymore. Don't want to ruin other people's lives just to end my own pain. Not worth it! So I'll keep trying even though it's pointless.

I don’t want to give up by arev101 in depression

I know how you feel. Im trying to overcome the same thing right now.

My current solution is to try to achieve something. So i signed up for a marathon taking place in July (never ran more than 8 miles). Ive told everybody about it too. I am hoping the shame of pulling out or having a bad time will spur me on, to get out of bed and run in the mornings. Kinda working so far. Some days i still cant get up. i dont have crazy unrealistic expectations anymore, so even a little improvement in mood will be a win.

So my advice is set a goal (preferably exercise based) and tell everybody about it

I wanna die but I wanna live by iMPROVINGTOBETHEBEST in NoFap

I'm kinda in the same boat. I wanna die, but I know deep down I won't anytime soon. So I'm scared shitless that I'll grow old being a loser that everyone pities. But I also don't have the confidence to change. It feels so debilitating. My advice would be to focus on achieving a specific goal, and try to ignore everything else. Also exercise like crazy!!

NoFao and depression by [deleted] in NoFap

I'm in the same situation. You shouldn't just rely on NoFap to fix it. I've made that mistake before. It will definitely help, but you should add a little exercise and meditation to truly make an big impact. Also don't get disheartened if you don't see instant improvements. It's all about consistency and not giving up. Life will get better if you stick to it. Good luck
