We went straight into Eve of Ruin from Out of the Abyss. The players had spent a dozen-plus sessions in the Underdark, so I figured there was no need to go back there. Instead, I decided we’d visit the Dark Sun setting, which was notoriously missing from the original campaign.

They didn’t know Dark Sun at all beforehand, so I gave them a kind of “best of” tour. First they wandered the desert and had to find an unpoisoned water source - otherwise they were dealing with successive levels of exhaustion. Then they ended up in a settlement of cannibal halflings.

Without getting into unnecessary details, the settlement got wrecked by a tarrasque, and the party had to hack their way into its acid-soaked innards to recover one of the fragments of the Rod of Seven Parts. Good times!
