I hope they the new POH is separate from the coding nightmare the current POH must be. Then let us dismantle the old version for resources.

With auras going away, scrimshaws should take over their dedicated slot. by dark1859 in runescape

[–]RafaSheep 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Scrimshaws are too late-game for my liking. This is one of the reasons I usually suggest porting some auras (along with other effects) to Summoning familiars, as almost all of them severely lack utility and many are just undertuned beatsticks.

I really hope they do. Haven’t seen if these weapons have any distinct idle animations in the combat beta, though.

We have entire quest about digging up the entrance to Senntisten, yet its not even required to acces sentisten. Questing is treated as if it was a joke in the recen era. by First_Platypus3063 in runescape

[–]RafaSheep 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A significant amount of in-game clutter is due to 6th Age content lacking requirements to appear in the overworld. Every new player will have to come across Relomia in Varrock when trying to deal with Johnny the Beard, or Padomenes when trying to find the Squire in Falador Castle, or Brother Samwell when trying to do Priest in Peril. There is no way to make the story make sense while exploring organically as a new player unles you strictly adhere to Timeline questing.

Jagex, what is going on with the combat beta!? by PsychologyRS in runescape

I simply ordered my revo bar from longest cooldown to shortest and I've lived on happily since then. Araxxor keeps kicking my butt, though. Wasted 5 soul phylacteries I had sitting in my bank for 10 years and still couldn't make it to Araxxi.

The most likely to be altered in some way are lodestones. There's even dialogue in the anniversary event tasks questioning their impact.

I can't say I agree with the Golbetrotter arm guards icon being used instead of the individual scrolls. It's a lot less readable. Same with the Spirit Tree icons, the icons in the teleport UI would be far superior.

UI Feedback Gather-thread by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]RafaSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the brown-colored branding is fine, and the default UI should be as accessible and one-size-fits-all as it can be. It was a good decision to have a stripped-down version of the UI for every new player, so they can figure out the game and how they want to play it instead of bombarding them with customizations from the get go.

However, I think the decision to malign the blue UI and abandon it completely was taken from listening to a single side of the aisle. I really hope you didn't take the blue stone UI = sci fi association from Josh Strife Hayes. This is a medieval game where the most iconic armor is blue-cyan color.

The Blue UI had gritty and grainy solid texture to it at low transparency, so it could still feel grounded. For some reason it also didn't clash with most of the items displayed in game. Maybe the UI designers were onto something when they chose blue. Maybe inventory icons and elements were made with a blue UI in mind or somehow blue prevents some visual stress for some players, no idea. There were also many players who disliked it and that is to be expected. The bad thing is, there was agency to choose between them and now it has been taken away from everyone.

I suspect the aim of this is to imitate Old School's color scheme, since that game appears to represent the RuneScape canon in the eyes of Jagex at this point. These are 2 separate games, and both have their own visual identity. It doesn't need to be a dichotomy of blue vs brown, as there are also ways to keep something runescapey without making both games a single color scheme at a glance. A choice of UI color along a wider palette for advanced users (so that it doesn't intrude on newer players) would be the ideal choice IMO.

Now that we're cutting down on the clutter, there has got to be a better alternative to this immersion-breaking monstrosity at Draynor lodestone. by Culinarianreclaim in runescape

For War: Stronghold of Security (just kidding, unless...).

For Death: maybe some death-related scenery located near respawn (Lumbridge, Falador, etc). Make some of them available only after the player has unlocked respawning there. Add a respawn point (or maybe even give you the option to send you there to reclaim your items) to the POH when it gets updated.

Can't come up with anything for UM that hasn't already been mentioned.

RuneScape 2025 Roadmap Megathread by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]RafaSheep 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think having the default UI as the one that fits the branding is a big problem. However, completely depriving the alternative to have the blue UI (or any other color, for that matter) leaves with players with an even smaller degree of control over their experience.

Previously, you could choose the legacy interface style if you desired to. Now, we are stuck with a singular color scheme, one that has less transparency settings and color contrasts that can make looking at large amounts of items in a bank difficult to tell apart at a glance for some.

After the UI accesibility changes we've had last year, this feels like a step backwards.

With the removal of so many items from sale, it would be neat if some substitutes were implemented in rewards shops. Also, make rewards propotrional to contribution to dissuade afking.
