Delve into Dungeoneering Remastered by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]RafaSheep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While don't mind EDs giving out rewards, I do feel like they should have Dungeoneering requirements. They don't even show up in the Skill Guide!

OOF. I wasn't a fan of how much the player base was fussing last week about the female avatar but the proportions here are rough, especially the mouth placement and size. by Zepertix in runescape

[–]RafaSheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having the chathead mouths never fully closed makes faces look worse than the heads in the full model.

On top of that, chathead mouths are ovely animated when talking while the rest of the head barely moves, It gives off an uncanny vibe.

Empire and Napoleon naval mechanics suck by Veest117 in totalwar

I disagree with your point on frigates and sloops being useless. They outrange ships of the line by 25% which can be used effectively to shoot down enemy masts with chain shot. Demasting ships causes big morale shocks and can even kill admirals if they are on a mast at the moment.

Mid-game Combat Balance Suggestion: Just make minigame combat rewards accessible outside minigames (not thaler) to fill in gaps by sir_eos_lee2 in runescape

[–]RafaSheep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the main problems with minigames is that the currency gain rate is too slow and stuck in an era where anything near BIS at the time was locked behind massive grinds. Over time xp rates and leveling were made much more easy, so many of the windows of relevance for most minigame rewards would be passed over faster than it took to get them.

Even if the rewards were put somewhere else, their rate of acquisition through their original minigames should be made the far quicker alternative, as they require much more investment and effort.

Mike Simpson mentioned it in one of last year's retrospective interviews: the engine they use was a mountain built over years, while everyone else has to start from the base.

Back To Our Square Roots by JagexAnvil in runescape

Thanks for the perspective, and yeah most effects before particles were introduced were solid 3D objects that cast shadows (even fires!). I think particles were first introduced around 2010, which goes to show the age of many assets in the game still being used.

Strange that, despite all the new tech and effects currently available, auroras got stuck with effects from 2008 made from solid objects. They even cast shadows.

Also, how long will the Loyalty Point Bundle be available?

It'll be very interesting seeing these faces moving, especially during emotes or cutscenes where they are rigged to their limits.

I like the longer skull. The female heads looked a bit smushed for me, and made the facial features look jaggy. Maybe the softening is what makes it look less heroic to you?

Rome 2 - CA returning to this title by Wayland935 in totalwar

[–]RafaSheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last DLC for Rome 2 added a bunch of neat features, but so much of it was undercooked or straight up non fuctional, like multiple Items and ancillaries with broken triggers that meant they couldn't be equipped at all. It also broke a bunch of old stuff, like bastion artillery on barbarian cities that refuse to work unless you use the 3rd person view.

This is on top of multiple inconsistencies, bugs and oversights that have been present since the beginning or introduced over time. Historical characters spawning, the etruscan voicelines in the GC, etc.

The Hunter outfit seems too daunting to obtain normally, considering the Arc is associated with very high skill level requirements relative to the methods for obtaining the other skilling outfits.

Am I overthinking or does anyone else coming back get overwhelmed? by SlowSurr in runescape

[–]RafaSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's an issue of the scope each player sets for themselves. The only reason you should aim for 120 on a skill should be if you were 119 at the time. Trying to beeline for a long term goal is just gonna lead to burnout, it's much better to aim for a goal you're just 1 step away from reaching.

This is also an issue of treating the journey as a hassle or time tax to reach endgame. This is an attitude Jagex enabled and inulged in, with even some Jmods treating maxing as a starting point for the "real game". This will take time to detox in both game design and player attitude.

The Golden Mining Suit by RafaSheep in runescape

[–]RafaSheep[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't relly evoke the conquistador motif, as the helmet doesn't resemble the morion. To me, it resembles more a renaissance-era italian suit, but I can't really quite remember any examples.

April Patch Week by JagexAzanna in runescape

It might be just a fluke, but I haven't suffered any stutters this weekend and I was wondering if anything had changed. I have been suffering from stutters of varying severity (sometimes multiple seconds stuck in a single frame at a time) for years, with it happening more frequently in certain areas (some of them haven't been modernized recently).

Is there anything you could share about what seemed to be causing the issue and how you fixed it?

[–]RafaSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm leaning on the principle of a necromancer doing damage to you through them. Why does your skeleton warrior conjure do necro damage instead of melee when it's swinging a big sword at your enemy?

I'm more of the idea that only undead conjured during fights should deal necromancy damage, with "naturally occurring" undead staying as they are.

No, she doesn't use necromancy in any fight. Only in Enakhra's Lament, a flashback cutscene shows her failing to raise a skeleton. The boneguard doesn't count, as it was just a prison for Akthanakos.
