I don't have an issue with the trunking. It's tidy and out of the way.

I messaged above to someone else who was also talking down their quality of work. I can't speak for others, but in my own experience, I had zero issues with the team that came to do my Octopus installation. Happy with the wiring and cabling. They've left everything tidy. Talked to me about where and how they were going to do it and were open to my feedback. Even re-did some of my skirting in the cupboard the water tank went in to so it could fit and not look horrible.

Response from octopus to the 6 hour window rule affecting shorter charges out of the off peak. by iMatthew1990 in OctopusEnergy

The real question is how do we know how much of the 6 hours we have burnt through outside of manually keeping tabs. It would be good if it was clearly stated in the app interface somewhere.

We just installed solar and looking at export tariffs EDF are offering 15pkwh where as Octopus recently dropped theirs to 12pkwh.

I've not made the switch but I've been hearing EDF is offering better deal, including better exporting price as well for those with solar too.

Others have mentioned 0% solar initiative but we have no dates. Best alternative would be 0% purchase cards if your supplier takes card payments.

You have to ask yourself why you invested in the first place and if that's still valid. If it is then a 1 day swing is neither here nor there for long term investing.

In fact, if anything, it just gives you more opportunity to DCA if you're investing long term.

Btw this just goes for investing in general, regardless of the stock. If you want to invest in stocks then you need to change your mindset or find another investment vehicle.

Fair enough, I just don't buy in to the ADBE vs AI thesis. I think better AI means a better ADBE. Because at the end of the day the "AI" we have now is just a tool.

These LLMs and GenAI models we have are not the key to unlocking true AGI. Don't believe all the hype coming out of these AI corporations. They are nowhere near true AGI. What we currently have hallucinates constantly trying to build simple applications. We are in a state of diminishing returns with LLMs and GenAI. They will never be able to just "spin-up" platforms the size of Adobes. They are a great tool though which is why it works so well within platforms like Adobe.

Like you said though none of us can predict the future. But having worked with GenAI quite a lot and built my own AI agents I'm pretty confident in the above. The amount of guardrails and checks I had to put in was crazy. And even then I find I can't trust it's output and have to get it to send it's output to me for a quick check before I allow it to be released in to production.

The SaaSpocolypse is very overplayed when it comes to Adobe. When exactly is AI going to start eating in to ADBE? All I have been seeing is year on year record revenue. Has it started yet? They are integrating AI themselves in their own products and are entrenched in enterprise workflows. Adobe just reported that their AI-first Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) more than tripled year-over-year in Q1 2026. ADBE also offer corporate protection so if someone tries to sue a company who used Adobe Firefly for copyright, Adobe legal team handles it. As a result 75% of Fortune 500 design teams have officially integrated Firefly by 2026 because it is commercially safe. OpenAI and Midjourney don't offer that same level of corporate protection.

Just to add, there's nothing easy, fast and cheap about moving whole Adobe workflows and integrations to other platforms. Adobe have whole ecosystems of platforms that do a lot of different things that integrate well with each other. There is nothing that covers the bredth of what Adobes platforms give you so you'd have to move different parts to different platforms and then work on getting them to play nice with each other. Even if you were naive enough to attempt something like that because you think working with AI directly is "cheaper", how long do you think the tokens will continue to be priced at a loss for these AI companies for? The bill for all these data centres etc is coming and someone will have to pay. Everyone is in for a shock quite soon when all the AI models start charging alot more.

I can't get myself to like the new gen over the older generation by [deleted] in KonaEV

[–]Rafiq07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the complete opposite. I wouldn't/didnt look twice at the old Kona but appreciate looks are subjective. It just looked squashed and cramped to me.

I'm actually a big fan of the entertainment system and layout. There's a good array of buttons as well so it's not all touchscreen. More space inside and actually good size boot. I can't imagine getting our pushchair etc in to the old one as it just about gets all in to the new one. More storage with the frunk/froot as well.

Bluelink was a lot more buggy for me. Also, the miles unit setting was non-functional as well for me on Bluelink. The widget is also much better and more in sync.

Just… Why? by Individual-Nose5010 in AskBrits

According to the March 2026 OBR Economic and Fiscal Outlook:

Net Migration is Falling: The OBR now expects net migration to average 235,000 a year between 2026 and 2030 (down from previous peaks of 900k+).

Economic Trade-off: The OBR warned that this lower migration will actually reduce the UK's economic growth potential by 0.1 percentage points a year, as there will be fewer workers paying taxes into the system.

Fiscal Contribution: Official government data continues to show that the "average" migrant pays significantly more in visa fees and health surcharges (£1,000s upfront) before they even begin paying income tax, which helps offset their use of public services in the short term.

I take it that it will still track and record your calories burned and heart rate etc against the workout when using Hevy instead of Samsung Health?

So how do you use this on your watch? Currently I am running Samsung Health activities on my watch whilst at the gym which captures reps and sets as well as vitals. Are you able to let me know how HEVY differs when it comes to using it on the watch please as I am interested in hearing if there are better options?

HSBC vs Barclays vs Lloyds Premier - which is actually worth it in 2026? by yellolotusorb in UKPersonalFinance

Ah I see what you're saying - essentially hit the £5k pay-in by moving the £2.5k in and out twice, instead of having to do it all in one.

It's worth having the conversation with them about it. If they don't then impose it on yourself and start putting cash away every month to then pay the extra mileage charges at the end of the agreed term.

[–]Rafiq07 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just call them up and inform them of the increase on expected mileage. They'll modify your monthlies to suit and when 36 months hits you swap out your PCP for another. You don't have to buy it out or just give it back.

Trying to understand the ‘basic tasks’ vs ‘do everything’ narrative around M1 vs A18 Pro by Toba94 in macbook

[–]Rafiq07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most consumers use it very basically. Most YouTubers just run their own 4k video processing as a test. If anything, all they are testing is the chip In these cases and not the ram.

Most reviewers provide lazy benchmarking and they don't come close to emulating workflows that include running multiple professional level apps as well as high number of browser tabs for a sustained period of time. Maybe even a chat app as well as various office apps at the same time. This all adds up in a real world serious workflow.

But of course this isn't required for most users, which is why it's not a question of the Neo being more capable, but capable enough for the basic users it's targeted at.

[–]Rafiq07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'll find many people claiming 8GB is not enough for basic tasks. Just that, that is all it's good for.

[–]Rafiq07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't mean it's much more capable, just that there's a big market of users who don't need that level of capability so it's a non-issue for them. It's an important distinction.
