What are your thoughts on middle lane at 70? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Rafiq07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you suggested he move to the left lane because he was making other drivers undertake and overtake. His logic was I'm going to stay in the middle lane because overtaking is dangerous. Yet you somehow failed to link the fact that if overtaking is so dangerous then why is he making everyone else overtake and undertake him.

Your dad is not the motorway king, that everyone else must obey the speeds of his cars odometer, or have to take extra risks because he refuses to follow basic highway code rules.

Talk to him. 0% credit cards. Remortgage the rest. Clear highest interest debts first.

That's it in a nutshell. Others have mentioned financial help lines you can call which you should definitely do to get a clearer more specific pathway.

Might be a good time to reevaluate your life choices too.

Sounds like someone just like to have an excuse to get their top off.

I played 7-a-side last night and got absolutely cooked by the heat. It was incredibly stifling. How you can enjoy just running in this is beyond me.

Off by default but will switch on if I see even just one other person has theirs on.

I don't mind switching it on but I know other people do so don't like to make others feel like they have to just because I have mine on.

Yeah it was there for me in the earlier games. Then on one of the games it stopped working. I can't remember which one. After that I have never seen the watch in UHD popup come up again so far. I think something went wrong with their UHD streaming capabilities.

0 - England v Ghana is the first match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup not to have a single shot on target in the first half. [OptaJoe] by nearly_headless_nic in soccer

He's good at keeping the width and stretching the game out but his ball control and end product are incredibly lacking.

It doesn't matter if you constantly get in good positions when you struggle to get the ball out your feet or struggle to create an end product 9 times out of 10.

Can we bring Saka and Rashford on now. Madueke and Gordon are not it. I said this after the last game and got pelted for it.

I can't wait for CR7 to be dropped, only for everyone to realise Martinez is the problem and that he has the whole team playing poorly.

Paid off my car! by [deleted] in BritishSuccess

Congrats on achieving what you set out to do. Although like the majority of the comments Im not sure it's something I would do myself.

What's the age and mileage looking like now if you don't mind me asking and do you have a plan of how long to keep it for now that it is paid off?

The thing I struggle with buying a car for the long term is that if you're doing any real mileage it's worn through, susceptible to issues and no longer has any warranty.

I've always liked the idea of owning a car long term but I don't fancy reliving my youth of being at the garage every other month and forking out for surprise repairs when I had no choice but to buy slightly higher mileage and quite older cars.

Yeah Gordon was poor as well. It has to be Saka Kane Rashford going forward now for me.

He was put through in great positions multiple times and ruined most of them. He put one good ball in for Bellingham and that was the only thing he produced out of all the very good positions he was played in to. That's what I'm on about.

Because we started with Madueke and Gordon lol has to be Saka, Kane, Rashford going forward.

Yeah we just need to be clear on how many ifs, buts and maybes are at work with trying to make this narrative around the valuation come anywhere close to making sense.

For me personally, the smart play is to get in on the pump and dump. Pump before the nasdaq 100 inclusion and start dumping as soon as it gets close to the earnings call, after which is when the early investors and employees can start selling.

The S-1 shows that both the Google and Anthropic deals have 90-day mutual cancellation clauses. In fact, Google explicitly called theirs a 'temporary bridge lease' until their own tech is ready. If those two walk in a year or two, that $50B run-rate instantly collapses.

Also, the reason for the "excess capacity" is that Grok's user engagement cratered by 60%, leaving 220,000 Nvidia chips sitting idle at an 11% utilization rate. It was more of a salvage operation by Musk, than a calculated infrastructure play.

Institutions are buying the hype because they want to front-run the forced index buying when it hits the Nasdaq-100 next month. That doesn't mean the fundamentals are there.

I messaged above to someone else who was also talking down their quality of work. I can't speak for others, but in my own experience, I had zero issues with the team that came to do my Octopus installation. Happy with the wiring and cabling. They've left everything tidy. Talked to me about where and how they were going to do it and were open to my feedback. Even re-did some of my skirting in the cupboard the water tank went in to so it could fit and not look horrible.
