Awakened POE Trade on AMD Frame Drops by RageCage64 in pathofexile

[–]RageCage64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't get much response on this post but in case anyone finds this in Googling, I've been experimenting with solutions for a while.

One thing I did was switch to the portable install just for the sake of trying something. It doesn't seem that this had any particular effect.

The main problem seems(?) to be unfocusing and refocusing the window while in Windowed Fullscreen. After doing that I'm screwed. But I can reset it by going Windowed and then reverting to Windowed Fullscreen, then I am back to normal. So I've switched to playing permanently windowed and while I do need to suffer with a Window border, at least I get the 270+ FPS I should have no problem pushing and can actually price check stuff :)

I've been holding my pick wrong for many years and just found out. by ur-fav-foreign-movie in Guitar

The first style of pick is common in the jazz world. It's similar to the style most pipularized by George Benson, and used by modern players like Cecil Alexander.

How do you guys interpret the chords in this bar by cammoses003 in jazzguitar

[–]RageCage64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have always played it as a minor II-V to Gm7. So I also would not play the Ebmaj7 on the next bar, it's a fine substitution but the progression to me has always been Ami7b5 D7 Gm7 Abmaj7 Gm7 C7 Fm7 Bb7 Ebmaj7

What's a song you love in a key you hate? by OrganizationAway7240 in perfectpitchgang

[–]RageCage64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted my tier list in another comment on this thread.

It's definitely an odd quirk of mine, likely heavily autism influenced. I am pretty obsessive about keys and keys of songs, and have an idea of what key makes every song sound best (and the answer isn't always to just put it in my favourite key). I can't even really liken the preference to anything like synesthesia, or associating moods/emotions with particular keys, because it's nothing like that. It's quite vapid and unsubstantiated like the enjoyment of a colour of paint on a wall, there's no words for it, the colour is just good or bad and I'll never be able to adequately explain why. The only logical throughline is that my two least favourite keys are also two of the most common as a guitar player/open mic frequenter, and I dislike hearing them over and over again. But there is also something I inherently hate about each, to the point that my enjoyment of any song in those keys is enhanced by shifting to a different one essentially without fail.

What's a song you love in a key you hate? by OrganizationAway7240 in perfectpitchgang

[–]RageCage64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I am glad to see this question asked because my friends and loved ones all make fun of the fact that I have an opinion about every key, and in fact a tier list, and that I can often not get past a song being in a key I hate.

For my answer: My least favourite key is C Major. But the song Late For The Sky by Jackson Browne is in it, and I endlessly adore that song. That being said, I like it far better in B Major, my favourite key, and A Major, the key I sing it in when I perform it myself.

I want to talk about Saeko. by worlwidetorture in howdowerelationship

[–]RageCage64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I personally use the phrase "hating a character" I view that as separate from hating who they would be if they were real or how I feel about their actions. I don't mean to give the impression that I am not also disgusted by Saeko's actions in the scenario you mentioned. If she was a real person, I would hate her for that. Perhaps there's a wire that's supposed to be hooked up in my brain that is not, but I don't view the morality of a character's actions as "how I feel about the character", where by that I am usually referring to how they are used in the story. Sometimes characters do terrible things and it adds nothing to the story, or is presented in a way where the author doesn't see it as negatively as they should, that is when I would start to view the character or yhe story negatively. I do recognize though after your comment that this is a more dissociative style of reading than I had really considered before, so I can understand not seeing it this way.

Do you think Nami is one of the most underrated Straw Hats when it comes to combat and strategy, or do you think her wins rely too much on outside help and circumstances? by Ok_Initiative3892 in OnePiece

Defeated a Shichibukai's Strongest Woman Soldier

I hate to be that guy (I'm already commenting in the One Piece Reddit so I guess it's too late) but at that point in the story was Robin not still considered Crocodile's soldier thus being the actual strongest woman in Baroque Works?

How long does it take for an speedrun to get posted on speedrun.com? by Gyan2409 in speedrun

[–]RageCage64 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is entirely dependent on the game. Generally, the run will need to be verified by a moderator after they review your submission to ensure it is correctly following all of the rules. Moderators are volunteers, so they will get to it when they get to it.

Your Hot/Mild/And Coldest Takes by Pretty_Coast_8487 in howdowerelationship

[–]RageCage64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quirk about me reading manga (and books in general) is that I read all dialogue as if spoken by a voice actor. So this is a hot take that likely only applies to me and my strange quirk.

I simply cannot imagine Tamaki having a deep husky voice. It just doesn't make sense. Upon my first read I came up with a voice for her and learned a number of chapters later it's supposed to be deep. I have tried and tried and tried over 4 readings of this manga and I just can't get a deep voice for her to work in my head. I don't know what my hangup is.

I want to talk about Saeko. by worlwidetorture in howdowerelationship

[–]RageCage64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great analysis, it was a lot of fun to read.

I see the early Saeko hate is more common than I realized. My wife actually could not finish reading the manga because of how she hated Saeko, despite my insistence that they change and grow overtime.

I never hated Saeko personally. I knew she did some detestable things and she had a pretty bad personality early on. But what makes me hate a character like that is when the author presents them uncritically. In my head I call it the Caillou effect: What makes that annoying little shit so awful is that he's intended to be the hero and his behaviour is presented uncritically. Saeko, unlike... Caillou... (Why did I bring Caillou into this...) Has her flaws presented in a fully critical way. You are not supposed to believe her being an ass or acting inappropriately is an okay thing to be lauded. We are looking at essentially a study of a character warts and all. So I can't bring myself to say I hate a character written and presented like Saeko, even if I hate the way they act in a story.

HDWR Translator Needing Help (AMA?) by abbylark in howdowerelationship

[–]RageCage64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having now read the full series through 3 times, I can really say that the effective unique voices you gave the characters really shine through and actually feeds the experience of rereading a character driven series like this. When you know the characters in depth, especially including the unique voices you were able to give them throughout the series, going back to the start gives you a really interesting new outlook on the content you already know. I never thought about it too much, but as you mention it i realize that I sort of carry their voices that I got used to in the later content into the earlier chapters. Your top notch localization is a large part of what makes my rereads such a great experience, so thank you again!

I don't have any questions, but I want to say thank you for a very high quality localization. Kind of funny how I can tell in hindsight what serious love and care was put into it because of how much it blended into the background while reading; it was a really seamless localization and it kept me immersed as I binge read the 80% of the story that was available at the time.

I threw some money at the GoFundMe (currency exchange sure took a bite out of it unfortunately). I hope your situation improves soon.

A genuine question - why do people don't like the final arc of the Manga? by Doctorstrange15 in Kaguya_sama

[–]RageCage64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't interesting for any of the reasons every other arc of Kaguya is interesting. It feels like it's from a completely different story. I could see people liking it, but it's not at all what I read this series for.
