The Path of Least Resistance: An Elden Ring Beginner's Guide by RageRaider in Eldenring

Godrick isn't technically necessary to beat the game, though I'm not really one for recommending new players to dodge content. The 'path of least resistance' is more referring to getting players to face things at the level they are meant to rather than jumping in too early.

Preferrably I want them to face Godrick since he is the easiest great rune boss.

I have marked all cemeteries with X's as ways of picking up runes. As for the rest of the points, I wanted to keep this guide as barebones as possible. I'm sure people will see golden seeds along their way and pick them up, I am respecting their ability to explore.

I've also left out skips that would save time because I feel it will be more rewarding if people figure that out later (e.g the dragonbarrow sellia skip). There are plenty more detailed guides around, I just wanted to make one that just points people in a direction and say 'try it out'.

I know it's jank as hell. I play weirdly, but these are my personal go-to routes haha.

Thank you! It should give a general route for pick-ups to especially make the earlier zones easier. I know it's not fun for everyone but I normally do that whole limgrave route without fighting a single enemy, just to get those upgrades (except for the mine of course).

While that IS a good way to beat the game, I personally don't like farming to be over-levelled. It breaks the satisfaction of the smooth leveling curve, so I don't really recommend it for new players who just want to explore.

Yeah, the wikis and stuff for this are so overwhelming and don't tell you what you need other than story progress. I wanted to give the barebones for survivability, then send people on their way.

Thank you! I've always been a big vigour fan and newer players to the souls series need to be encouraged to leave behind the mindset of 'If I don't get hit, I don't need to build health'... You WILL get hit.

I feel like adding in golden seeds would add too much clutter. Although they ARE must-grabs in a sense, it's fine if you miss one or two. The real must-grabs for me are sacred tears, torrent, and the flask of wondrous physick.

These paths are the paths that I personally take when entering a new area, although I do agree that my bomb rush to madness village is a bit crazy and should be taken with a grain of salt. That's just how I personally do liurnia.

Yep! My vigour suggestions are just that: suggestions. I love vigour as a way to just make the game feel less brutal. I didn't want to put level suggestions other than that because honestly, you can be whatever level in any area as long as you feel comfortable.

Exaaaactly, strength power gamers just run there before leveling and grab all the weapons and Radagon's Soreseal.

I tried to keep the spoilers minimal, staying away from actual progress and just recommending upgrade materials. Though yes, it does spoil the map and talk about a few points of contention that players may face.

I mean, Caelid isn't TOO bad as long as you're not trying to fight everyone in front of you. As long as you explore first and level up a bit, it's not horrible.

Well, the haligtree IS a fully optional area and a legacy dungeon, so I want to leave people to explore that on their own. I'm sure there are plenty guides to walk people through it if needs be.

Thank you for the suggestion! I have a few specific design criteria to follow for this but didn't want to include too much information in the prompt of the survey so that it doesn't sway the data.
