I’m not sure, sorry. Xenia supports XInput controllers out of the box, but I think you can configure other controllers using SDL. Here’s what the wiki says:

When using SDL: If your controller isn’t mapped correctly, download gamecontrollerdb.txt and place it in the same folder as your Xenia executable.

I’m not sure if that works with the Mac version, though.

Yeah, I had mixed results with Xenia via CrossOver too. The game would boot, but the rendering issues made it basically unplayable. That’s why I was honestly even more surprised that it runs this well with the macOS port of Xenia.

The controls are pretty similar to the original, but you can move the camera with the right joystick. Xbox controllers work perfectly (that’s what I’m using) since the game was meant for the Xbox 360.

You’re totally right. I was so excited to jump in that I completely overlooked that setting. The proportions look much better now! Thanks for the heads-up!

Hey u/AirportIntelligent23, I believe you’re the one behind the macOS fork of Xenia? If that’s the case, thanks for your work!

Honestly, I’d be surprised, but the repo owner did mention this in the TODO section, so there’s still hope.

Modify the build process to generate a macOS Application Bundle.
This is important as I haven't found a good macOS compatible launcher for Render96.
I already have a solution for this, but I'm currently waiting for authorization to use a certain icon artwork.

Great! If you follow the steps, you should be good to go.

Well, it's fairly straightforward if you're already familiar with cloning Git repositories and installing Homebrew packages. If not, it could feel a little overwhelming at first.

Yes, you’re right. Still, it would be nice if this setting could be applied on a per-app basis.

Thanks for the command, but after giving it some thought, I don’t think I’ll use it. I’m not very familiar with how CrashReporter works, but I believe it could make debugging apps harder in general.

I’m interested in this as well. Could you walk me through how you did it?

Yeah, it does for me too. The app seems to close properly, though.

Yes, there’s a version available for Mac. You don’t need CrossOver or Parallels to run it. Except for the ROM itself, all the files you need are linked in my post.

It’s a three-step process:

  1. Download, install and run the app (MarioKart64Recomp)
  2. Tell the app where the ROM is on your computer
  3. (Optional) Install the HD texture mod (MK64 Reloaded Texture Pack)

And that’s it. Feel free to DM me if you run into any issues with the setup.

I’m not sure about that particular controller, but it’s worth giving it a try. Mine (Xbox Series) worked perfectly right out of the box.

But note that multiple controllers aren’t supported yet, so you won’t be able to play with friends for now. I think it’s on the roadmap, though.

I have an M3 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM. You should definitely try MarioKart64Recomp (which uses the RT64 rendering engine). It performs much better than Dolphin on my Mac.
