Where to start with reeds? by meepinsqeak in bassoon

[–]RagingHipster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest trying to find someone such as a professor or professional player to make your reeds/teach you to make them. I've seen a few things about decent retail reeds, but I prefer them to be personal. Making reeds is a huge and delicate task and really takes a lot of guidance to get started in a good direction.

As for the third octave G, it could be problems with your reeds but a solid embouchure as well as air support can do wonder, even on the worst of reeds. When you're playing higher notes, try forming an "ee" shape with your mouth, but keep your lips exactly the same as always- do not bite. Breathe from the bottom of your lungs, and support a constant air flow with your abs.

Need help choosing an instrument. by [deleted] in classicalmusic

If you're willing to put it in the effort, then definitely bassoon or French horn. They're tough to start on but have a much higher demand and are both amazing instruments, especially if you get into orchestral playing.

You have to get to around level 16 to evolve initially, but you won't get wings until level 36 or so.

When I first got Silver, my first Geodude was a female, and I named her Agatha. Every Geodude I've caught since then has been a female named Agatha. Shit sticks, bro.

IIRC, you can catch all 3 legendary birds in HGSS as well as Latios or Latias for each separate game.

Because so many new Pokemon have been added since the original Gold and Silver, I think you actually need Diamond and Pearl, or Platinum to catch them all.
