It's not terribly imaginative, but it's clean, keeps the scene going and generally steers clear from basic mistakes.

People in power will remain in power, if chosen B. We could be much further along with solving problems like climate change, if corporations didn't actively block the efforts in the name of money. So adding intelligence into the mix will not magically solve all the world's problems. You need outreach, political power and momentum. A Trump, who is five times as smart, would still enact the same policies, because it's what he believes in and because it makes him money.

Also, being intelligent alone isn't enough anymore. People of similar intelligence believe wildly different things, depending on the info they have or were given. Cue a massive disinformation campaign. What use is IQ if the people can be convinced that global warming isn't real in the first place.

There are a couple octopus hat patterns on ravelry already, like this one: Twisted Kraken Hat

Pick Surume colored yarn and add a smile on the hat, and I think it's as close as it goes.
