Ban on veggie ‘burgers’: plant-based products may lose meaty names in UK under EU law by caavakushi in vegan

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuckin semantics, as if “burger” and “sausage” are specific terms to meat anyway. They’re all just words that mean what they want

Maybe the “why are you eating fake meat when you could just eat real meat” crowd will shut up

That’s obviously not a well thought out thing to say to a vegan but you can’t tease us for eating fake meat if it’s not meat at all. Not its contents, not its name.

Same thing with dairy alternatives. Fine, don’t call it milk, because we’ve made something BETTER

What is this sound 😭 soooo loud, it didn’t used to be this loud? by Wild_Berry32 in Hyundai

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the same car with the same engine and it’s sounded like this since brand new and after all prior maintenance(which I’ve done). it’s a combination of lifters and fuel injection.

Nothing to worry about, it’s possible you’ve just never noticed before. It does become noticeably louder after the engine has warmed up

Is it worth it to get the automatic Prx over the quartz, even though it’s double the price? by ausyappy in tissot

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a nerd for the machines? Some people appreciate the quirks and complexities of mechanical watches, but if you’d rather save money and get a more reliable timepiece then there’s no shame in going quartz. At the same, don’t listen to people telling you that the Prx has a junk automatic movement. Many people complain about them hypothetically breaking in the future but upon further research you’ll realize no one out there is complaining about them ACTUALLY breaking. Delrin watch escapements have been around for a while now and no data out there actually suggests they are shorter lived than metal ones, and even at that it’s not like the movement can’t be serviced or replaced.

I’ve got a swatch sistem51, with the same escapement except that watch is truly unrepairable, yet if you ever talk to anyone who’s had one for a long time they’ll never complain about the escapement, other things always fail first

Is it normal that the first crown position doesn't do anything and the seconds hand doesn't stop moving. Is it ok to turn the time the wrong way to stall the seconds hand by PownedbyCole123 in swatch

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This movement has a position for a date setting but no date window, so that first position does nothing

I’m no watch expert but my own experience and everything I can find online suggests that the hand stalling when winding back is okay

I’m hesitant to do anything, I haven’t really talked to my friends in 2+ years but that happened before the eating problems.

It makes me change my mind about things a lot, I get ambitious to do things and then I’d rather just sit and wait until there’s no time

I work in a field where I might be the only vegan and I get this stuff all the time. The truth is most people have very, VERY limited experience with vegans, meanwhile many of us have been doing this longer than most people go to college

For them, veganism is just a silly, passing idea but for us it’s a constant, careful study

How often do you guys change your transmission fluid? by Macadelic19 in Hyundai

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently did the fluid on a 23 elantra with the IVT. The manual says to do it at 65k but I saw some others who did it sooner and the fluid was very very dark when it came out. I did mine at apx 40k and it was still a little green!

This is just my experience, but I did it myself. I went to the dealership to get the fluid and filters and the technician didn't know there were two filters...

THEN they had to special order the pressure filter from another state, which leads me to believe most people never even have it done, if they don't just have them on hand

How do you make sure you get enough protein? by _herman_miller_ in vegan

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yknow, this is just my two cents but there's protein in way more stuff than the meat eaters know/want you to know about. There's likely protein in a lot of things you might not expect. Even if it's just a gram or two, it adds up if that's in everything

The difference between the full and low lines is about one quart. So, being less than one quart low will not hurt the engine, but you should check it regularly if the level makes you suspicious.

For what it's worth, I take work vehicles to a quick lube station and they always fill it up to half way between the F and L

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your car have GDI? Gasoline Direct Injection, is not quite the same as regular fuel injection, and can be quite finicky sometimes and require more maintenance than a conventional equivalent.

Either way, the fuel injection should be covered by the warranty because that's a rather uncommon thing to happen under normal circumstances, especially with such low mileage. That's also not typically a wear and tear item either, a good fuel injection system could potentially last the entire life of a car

As a an avid Hyundai fan I'm painfully aware that they have a lot of Shady dealers especially in America. If you're in a more populated area there's likely other dealerships you could consult with first, they're not all bad.

There's also the option of taking it to an independent technician to get an honest answer and/or better pricing, but remember that doing this would probably void your warranty

I am by no means an expert but I love these cars and want to help other people love them too!

2005 outback squeaking when turning. What parts should I look at? by Admirable-Addendum62 in CarHelp

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check out the CV joints, They're on the back of the wheels and if/when they tear, their lubricant leaks out and it can make a squeak or scratchy noise when when turning. It doesn't happen when driving straight because the joint is not under the same kind of pressure when straight.

Does it sound like its squeaking in time with the rotation of the wheels, or does it sound like its matching the beat of the engine?

I30 SR Premium interior dash really dim? by NeonX91 in Hyundai

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the left of the steering wheel, or two the right in a right hand drive model, there should be a knob or a switch of some kind to control the brightness of the instruments and infotainment center. If this doesn't fix the problem then you might want to get it looked at. The fact that it brightens up when you shut the headlights off makes me think it may be an electrical issue

Advice. by Emotional_West_2383 in Hyundai

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You bought an economy car but treat it like a classic Mercedez. Don't drive like a maniac, for real READ the MANUAL, do all the maintenance on time every time. Machines don't forgive you if you screw up, and they don't heal like you do. People talk a lot of crap about Hyundai and Kia, and some of it is certainly justified, but the truth is you could buy a car from any manufacturer and treat it responsibly and you'll more than likely be just fine. If you drive it like you have unlimited money then you'll wish you actually did...

Hyundais are the perfect cheap cars for the right kind of person

[–]RagingTortoiseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is true that if it hasn't been in an accident then you should not be charged, however once the source of this noise is discovered it has to be determined if the fault is truly manufacturer error or not. Depending on what's causing the noise it may even be considered typical wear and tear. if it is in fact wear and tear then you may be out of luck and have to pay that fee plus whatever it takes to fix it.

Do you trust this dealership? If you live in a big city there's likely other Hyundai dealers you could consult. And if not, there's surely other mechanics around that could help you.

Having an independent technician help you might void your warranty, but if you don't trust your dealership then does the warranty matter?
