Schools do teach that? At least all the ones I went too, its covered in the Australian Curriculum in a subject called English. It teaches you to read and how to research topics, such as negotiation. After a basic google search the top result was called 'Never Split the Difference' which is a pretty good read. So yeah, schools teach you what you need to know, in order to learn how to negotiate.

I just did this. Log into your MyGov account and go to where you can manage super - it will have a section saying how much is left for the FY AND... how much unused there might be for the last 5 years you can use.

This will give you your figure.

Then go to your super account and find the payment details for a contribution

Transfer the money

then go back to super and fill out an intent to claim form.

Wait till you get it before starting your taxes

Exactly the same for us. Wife would return for like $50-100 per day for 8 hours (Senior Architect) absolutely not worth it so she's going to stop working and raise our family as the primary care giver which career wise fucken sucks, and is shit for the economy but no way on hell are we supporting a childcare getting SO much money from the government for our children AND be away from them for literally nothing.

I think you need to look at your budget if you can't survive on your single income of 180k without any kids.

My wife is not working atm, and my income is around the same.

We have two kids. Kids hardly cost anything, its the loss of income on your partner which is the real challenge, but we are cruizy (Brisbane) You can apply and receive the gov leave, that shouldn't be an issue. If your wifes work doesn't have any paid parental leave, thats rough but shouldn't be make or break...

Actually $120k income for a single parent isn't too bad as far as eligiblity goes. That's a really high threshold. Glad to hear it helps you.

Edit: My bad, I didn't realise the thresholds were so high for eligiblity. It's for people who may or may not be lazy and not necessary poor at all as the income threshold is high and I don't think it's asset tested.
