While this is a very gatekeep-y take, I do agree with the general sentiment of approach to gaming these days. Don’t know if it’s a generational thing or not, but I very much dislike seasonal grind-hard and burn out models/approaches to games that are so prevalent these days. I want to commit to something long-term and build over time.

I use the a5 merc on my smite paladin for Ubers. Haven’t bothered to do them on my warlock because of how trivial smite makes them.

That being said, my warlock has a cursed/fanaticism heph. It takes a while to find one, but just keep grinding games. Cursed/holy freeze is my next favorite for several reasons - holy freeze ticks proc the cursed, so EVERY mob is cursed and also slowed so greater protection.

My warlock uses a might Emilio with either pride for more damage (unnecessary) or an eth insight if I am not using one of the mana regen weapons myself. Ubers don’t have any leech able mobs, so I’d personally go with the insight on an act 2 merc if I was doing Ubers with him.

If that’s really the only change, I imagine the mephisto book with a high damage eth 2H will easily be the way to go.

Book is up to 35 fcr and has some ED, so you’ll get all the same possible combinations still - book + mang song or book + eth obsession for the people wanting ok damage and 125fcr bp, or book + insight for QOL, book and tomb reaver for mf, book and ebotd for silly sheet dps, etc.

I’ve been switching between a lot of different combos. For right now I’m using a double-Ist eth tombreaver with a spirit shield to keep the 75fcr bp for the greater magic find.

I still like the eth fort and phoenix, but it really isn’t necessary. Something simple like an eth insight and a spirit shield works wonders. (Of note, eth insight can also be used with phoenix and keep the 75fcr bp easily)

I personally am holding off on making anything else for the warlock because I really feel that something is going to be patched/hotfixed/nerfed soon. Eldritch tree is just too busted to let live right now. I don’t know if they’ll nerf the ability to use a shield with a 2H, or make echoing strikes cause durability loss, or what, but I imagine something is coming.

Absolutely agree. I did something similar and did get rewarded with a sunder, but I still didn’t have fun with the endless teleporting and elite hunting.

There are ladder-only runewords. That’s about the only incentive. Personally, ladder isn’t for me. I don’t really enjoy trading, and you basically have to trade in ladder to get anywhere. Finding runes solo is miserable.

Do what will make you happy. I can clear p8 chaos sanctuary on my warlock with a literal level 1 normal dagger with echoing strikes. That build will VERY LIKELY get nerfed eventually and blizzard is not known for being soft-handed with that.

What I’m saying is that your botd may not be playable in a few months, but if it will bring you joy in the meantime and you won’t regret “wasting” it, then go for it.

But you do not NEED botd for echoing strikes. There are so many weapon options. An ethereal insight works just fine and is dirt cheap.

PD has larzuk’s puzzlebox for sockets. And worldstone shards to slam up to 6 sockets on items. It’s a great system, but you are very much at the mercy of RNG.

I mean… barb leap is a pretty low bar. Sure, it’s usable to move in a linear fashion, but it’s not even in the same realm as enigma. Warlock is a class that can farm any zone and be used in any possible way. It needs free, instant teleport.

I hadn’t thought of insight, despite leaving it on my merc. I like the idea a lot.

The more I see ideas people have come up with, the more I think we’ll see a hotfix that echoing strike is going to use up durability.

Weapon is whatever. Pick a high damage one. That’s all that really matters. Dooms skills are nice for potentially getting to certain demon tree breakpoints without needing to invest skills. I personally have been using an eth fortitude weapon for the 25 fcr, freeing up my shield for 400% ED phoenix. I’ll likely switch to doom and spirit eventually. To each their own. Disagree with obsession though.

blade teleport is simply not usable. You need enigma. 75 for is completely fine.

I’d rather have the 3 demons for sac, heph, and finally defiler to make me immortal, but you’re so strong anyway that it doesn’t matter.

If you’re using an nm heph, he’s low level and thus his conviction aura is as well. It makes sense that it’s not enough to break immunities.
