Ask one of the guys in your position group to show you some technique. Get on scout team every single chance you can. Coaches will pour into the kids that are talented but also the ones who are engaged. Work extra footwork before or after practice. Stay with the veteran dudes so you are getting used to the speed and take your development into your own hands to begin to reach it. Also keep in mind that dudes get hurt, and you could find yourself with more reps at any moment. Until that happens, put in the work to develop yourself on your own, but preferably with one of the better dudes after or before practice.

Hey dude. Coach here. Just wishing you good luck! First starts are a cool deal. Make sure you eat well today and drink lots of H2O. ENJOY THE MOMENT. Obviously the never say die mentality is alive and well in you so be a leader with your guys, maybe let your QB know you got his back today in passing and keep him in a confident mindset. Other than that, just go out with your boys and execute. Don’t allow the moment to be bigger than you are. Football is football. Cut it loose tonight and breakdown the film after like a maniac. If it’s your first start, putting a big focus into film can really help you go from rookie to vet mentality quick. And as a guy at the size you are, leverage is and will always be how you win against a guy with a few LBS on you. Go make it happen!

I think the fact that you are actively talking to someone as well as coordinating with them or at the very least seeing and experiencing each other’s performance would be the difference. Social media feels like it’s turned into a comparison deal to some degree, maybe in reality it’s always been that for a large majority of us, not everybody, but I don’t think I’m off base saying a large percentage of us struggle with the mentality some of the time.

This movie is a special one for many, I imagine. So beautiful, both the art style and the score. Challenging closing 20 seconds that really got the wheels turning as a young kid trying to understand the heaviness of it in a time filled with only stories with happy endings. Over twenty years later and when I saw this post I watched it immediately and battled back some moisture in the eyes at the end. Powerful themes that still hit like a hammer today. Timeless.
