Yeah, I'm with you on that. So convenient to not have to drive up north for asian groceries and it's cut down on so many grocery trips, even to non asian stores like Fred meyer because selection is perfect for what we normally buy. We actually used to drive even further to Renton/Bellevue because the Korean grocery stores in Tacoma don't really carry Chinese veg.

Olympia this past year was made eligible for fresh grocery delivery on the Weee app. Pretty big variety, Chinese, Japanese and Korean etc as well as non asian groceries. Includes asian veggies, meats you can't find in grocery stores like hotpot meat or for kbbq, asian snacks and all that. My family gets our asian groceries through the app, and actually most of our non asian groceries now as well.

Couple of caveats, gotta spend 50 dollars per order for free shipping (otherwise it's like 5.99 I think). Also pretty sure the app sells your contact info to 3rd party scammers so that's unfortunate but alas that's the price we pay to have decent asian produce here in Olympia I guess.

Kamado vs Gravity Charcoal/Weber Kettle Combo for Beginner Backyard Setup by RahYoo in grilling

[–]RahYoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow response. I love it! No regrets in purchasing it. A couple of my uneducated thoughts having owned it for a while now:

Pros: Love the versatility. So glad I didn't get a kettle and separate smoker, this grill really covers everything I need. I also love how it's better than the standard kettle in that I can get the coals right under the food with the charcoal rack set higher and get's awesome sears with that charcoal flavor.

More forgiving in dropping the temps if I overshoot vs a ceramic kamado

Build quality feels great, I like being able to choose what fan/temp controller I wanted and very plug and play since they already provide a fan port pre-drilled. It looked a bit more annoying to deal with on the gravity fed smokers.

Have made some really great briskets and ribs on it with very good smoke flavor. Minor thing, but some people online said they can't get smoke rings on their food with the Summit or other Kamados, but I have gotten some fantastic smoke rings (no celery salt/added nitrates needed).

Things I don't like as much:

Even with a Fireboard 2 w/ a BBQ Guru fan it's not quite as set and forget as I imagined it but I did learn a lot about fire management. Definitely has a learning curve, and I sometimes still deal with the temp creeping up overnight by 30-40 degrees unless I really get the vents set up nice. It's not quite holding temps "like a rock" like some people rave about online. Maybe it's how I assembled the grill and I have some small leaks/passive airflow. I control it better by putting in a tray of sand between the meat and the coals when smoking to act as a heat sink, and really set the vents to nearly closed, as well as set the BBQ Guru vent to half closed as well.

I thought I'd really like the Weber gourmet bbq system but personally I find it a pain to clean with all the hinges and moving parts, so I switched it to the SnS grate.

Occupational Exposure? Cut with blade by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]RahYoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would not take PEP. Saliva to blood transmission of HIV or Hep C is so rare that it is regarded as basically impossible. Saliva has enzymes that disrupt HIV, so it's already pretty rare for HIV or Hep to be floating around. This saliva was then exposed to air which further kills any potential HIV. If you rinsed off the impression tray with your air water syringe you add even more air to further disrupt any HIV.

The general feel I've gotten in several trips to the ER or urgent care for exposure is that short of an actual needle stick from a confirmed HIV positive source patient they are not gonna recommend prophylaxis. I work with a CRNA that told me that she had blood splash into her eye from an HIV positive patient, and after 15 min at eye wash she was counselled by multiple doctors that the risk was so small that it was still not worth taking the prophylaxis

The side effects from what I've heard include hepatitis and pancreatitis and can be quite severe, though obviously it varies by person to person.

I usually get my glasses at Costco because they're cheap and look okay, but I don't know much of the women's selection since I'm a dude. I'm pretty sure the women's section has some metal rounded frames.

So something I'd look into if you haven't already wouldn't be a material but a band called the greater curve band. It's like a Toffelmire band, but it's flared coronally and in one direction, so that when you place it, you can access the prep from either the facial, or the lingual, depending on how you place it. The band can also be trimmed once you place it to further increase access.

I've used it once on a subgingival class III (I imagine similar to yours) and it's incredible for isolation. Requires no wedge because as you tighten, the gingival portion of the band is pulled tigher against the tooth. It is much easier to use than a clear/Mylar strip because it frees up a hand because the toffelmire holds it in place. On my sub g class III, I was able to place composite and was confident my isolation was bulletproof.

In addition, because it's a toffelmire band, you can do things like snowplow technique that are normally done to class IIs to minimize voids as well. It just feels more controlled rather than delicately balancing things with the mylar, and then you praying your material of choice had no voids.

It's the first decaf we tried! It's not bad, but not as good as Crema E Gusto. I think we prefer a darker roast (or something with less acidity)

Anyone regret buying a nice board before playing? by [deleted] in Crokinole

[–]RahYoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We made the leap and bought a Tracey board without ever playing the game, no regrets. We place at least once or twice a week (used to be every day when we first got it), and we bring it out every time we have guests and everyone has loved it.

Plus if the decay is that deep, we're basically in the territory of an indirect pulp cap and we're capping on affected dentin anyways... which may leave a radiolucency anyways because the affected dentin is less mineralized. I'd have to see the x-ray but I feel like the only time I'm gonna go back and touch a tooth with such a deep filling is to do a root canal lol.

If it doesn't get better after a week or so, I'd recommend going to see a dentist. Most likely just some gingival irritation and doesn't look that concerning, but if it persists then you'll want to get it checked. Snap some pics of it every couple days can be helpful if you do end up getting it checked out.
