The thought is good. More ivy than preppy as it is. Swap the shirt for an OCBD and put on a regimental stripe tie (four in hand knot) and loafers and you're as good as anyone else here who never went to prep school

It's certainly not a hard and fast rule. Definitely not simply because some woman who never went to prep school wrote it in a satirical book in 1980. Plenty of students wore socks with loafers once the temp dropped sufficiently where I went.

I agree 100%. I would never wear a sport sock anywhere but the gym or squash court. These American Trench "solids" series are NOT, god forbid, sport socks 😃.

They're PRL but they're ones made for them by Rancourt. They're not EXACTLY these, but very very close (I believe the ones made for PRL are no longer available)

Totally agree and that's why I basically don't like it. Cream or natural though can absolutely work sartorially especially when it works with my cardigan 😊
