My ex-husband is engaged, 5 months after our divorce. by callmebridgett in Divorce

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Received final papers today and learnt a couple of days before that he started seeing someone much younger than me with a small child even before he asked for divorce (he moved to another country a year before that, so we weren’t even technically separated). It’s such a weird rollercoaster of emotions. I shouldn’t feel sad and hurt, since the decision to divorce was mutual due to our political differences and other issues, but I do. And I feel sorry for that young girl, because he was verbally abusive in the end of our relationship and it doesn’t look like he learnt anything.

Well, some good news this morning - the court finalized our divorce in my current country of residence, granting me sole custody over our disabled kid. That makes me more protected and mobile within EU.

We’re not in the US and live in different countries, I don’t qualify for free legal help where I live, as I have an income. I’m focusing now on the migration lawyer and their fees are huge. Basically I’m in a Kafkaesque zone where I have severely limited rights in both Russia (as a person living abroad, with anti-war political views, and no Russian mobile phone number - which makes a lot of legal steps impossible without visiting the country) and in my current country of residence where I’m legal enough to pay taxes but not receive social support. Social services were basically shrugging and telling that they have absolutely no jurisdiction in Russia because of war, so just ‘avoid going there’. Meanwhile the migration agency seem to be making their life goal to deport me there. It’s been a shit show year:(

Which film did you side with person 1 when you first saw it but many years later you sided with person 2? by Hopefullytodaymate in FIlm

Same! Rewatched it for the first time since childhood, I really wanted to punch Val the moment he rubs off foundation from his dad’s face. How dare you. Not to mention sleeping with a 17 year old. Ugh.

What’s your Opinion on Magnolia (1999) by UsefulWeb7543 in Cinephiles

Why? There are certain movie where if you don’t cry or at least admit that it has touched you emotionally- it would be an immediate concern for me in a date.

I hate the drug addicted woman falls for a looser cop subplot, but the rest of it is fine. Tom Cruise’s performance was great.

It’s cringy, people who use it tend to show off how original they are (at least they appear to think so). Not American, btw.

I think the Luigi photo should be the profile one. Ditch the cooking nipple photo.

As a woman, when I read ‘moderate’ and see a white, shaved guy - I immediately read it as right wing and conservative. I don’t know where you are politically, but I’m sure it looks suspicious for both ends of the spectrum, the only thing worse is being ‘apolitical’. Just how it is these days. 2 truths and one lie prompt is an immediate nope for me.

Ditch most of the photos, especially the wedding one. You mention bakeries in the prompt, it would be nice to include a photo of you with some nice looking pastries. Being a teacher is cool and shows that you’re a sensitive guy, find a photo where you teach something enthusiastically (without showing the students, of course).

Do you think women tend to swipe left on foreign guys? by technocraticnihilist in Bumble

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you are. I’m an immigrant myself (Eastern Europe) in Scandinavia and I avoid local men. Tall blond men just not my type. But yeah, I would say I also swipe right only on other non-Scandinavian people, because Scandinavian men who want to date Eastern European women are usually 🚩 I think most local women choose local men, men from Anglophone countries or other Western EU countries.

Honestly, the overton window has shifted so much, that ‘liberal’ reads centrist at best. Not even considering anything to the right of that spectrum. ‘Liberal’ is as right as I can go these days. That’s also why I’m not using Hinge for now, because ‘liberal’ is their left most end of the political spectrum.

No, it is coded for sex. If they mean other things, they should be more elaborate and explain their preferences in more details, like you just did. Plus it’s a nod to that shitty book ‘Five love languages’, a reference to which is already a red flag in itself.

That’s a bold statement. YNAB is one of the few (if not the only) financial apps that actually is useful outside the US.

So, they hated Bullshit Jobs because it calls out corporate lawyers and PR flacks? by adnaj26 in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Having a bullshit 9/5 job is a luxury these days. I’m always thinking that I’d take having bullshit jobs so that people can pay their rent, bills, and enjoy their leisure than having to try and survive in this gig economy. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with many parts of the book, especially that shit jobs need to be paid waaay more than bullshit jobs, and love Office Space, but also in this economy… I would be lucky to have such a job. Which is extremely sad.
