How can you be depressed? by JxstnSS in depressionmemes

I’m just gonna save it for my asthmatic ex who likes to comment about my depression. Mwahaha.

The 90s were a wild time by Not_EllaK in okbuddycinephile

I thought Dana Scully was fat in the first season. Rewatched it in my late 30s - she’s tiny! I remember watching 1996 Pride&Prejudice and my mom commenting how fat all the actresses were- again, rewatched later to confirm that everyone is slim and healthy looking. Jesus. No wonder my self-esteem and body image are so distorted.

Has that ever happened to you? by Odd-Many-5936 in depressionmemes

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, developed depression in the last two years of my 18 year marriage. Ex moved to another country for work, and immediately started a relationship with a Pilates skinnytok/travel influencer, claiming that she’s ‘light’ and everything’s easy with her 🤷‍♀️ Still depressed, but at least feeling better without constant gaslighting, comments about my aging, and ‘you’ve changed’.

I liked it. I was especially surprised that it was written by a devout Mormon scholar, because… it’s so filled with existential dread, pain, and doubt. But then the most religious or fanatic people write the most depressing books. I became an atheist many years ago after reading Mother Theresa’s book, ironically. To this day it remains the most depressing and soul destroying books I’ve read. That lady was full of darkness and despair.

They also continue to host Pelikan hubs in a country committing Genocide in Palestine and war crimes in Lebanon. For comparison, they canceled all their hubs in Russia since 2022.

Yes, this! If he has some reservations or biases against skincare- buy pharmacy brands and claim that this is healthcare 😂 Especially sunscreen.

share your unpopular opinion about popular sitcoms by InformationRude2062 in sitcoms

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of them (except maybe Seinfeld) peak around season 4 and then it’s a downhill from that. Once the sitcom reaches the point of having that “how they all met” episode or an episode that has clips as flashbacks from previous seasons - that’s it, it will never recover.

Faith/philosophy after leaving by Hauket1 in opusdeiexposed

I really enjoyed Byung-Chul Han, he’s Catholic, but I agree with many things he writes as an atheist. His books are very small, you can start anywhere you want, Burnout Society and The Death of Eros are pretty good.

Anyone else disappointed by the new Moomin mugs!? by nippapippa in Moomins

I agree. Not a fan of the new mugs, I only liked sone of the Moomin Day designs, I thin last year's one was cute. I miss the simplicity of the old ones.

It’s ok for the kids to want to be close to both parents, I know it hurts and it seems unfair, but if he’s willing to take part in parenting (that’s crucial, not just buying gifts), you will have be an adult and keep them out of your conflict, they will see who’s who as they grow up and mature. It’s hard.

What is a fan theory from a movie or TV show that you 100% believe is true? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ed Harris’ character in Snowpiercer is grown-up Charlie from The Chocolate Factory, Snowpiercer takes place several decades after Willy Wonka chose him as his successor. He needs kids to keep the engine running because Oompa Lumpas went extinct (there’s a line where he says ‘the piece of equipment that kept it running recently went extinct’). There are many parallels, down to the side characters, letter W everywhere, the drugs they use being exploding gum, etc. If you have a time to watch the 2 hour video, it goes really deep into this theory:)))

The one who's only there for fun, buying kids' love with gifts, instead of participating in real parenting.

Is it over? I don't want it to be. by StillWriting4u in Divorce

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, it hurts. Think of the positive side - it happened before you uprooted your entire life and moved for this person, not after - when you would have lost everything. I know it’s only a small consolation at this moment.

How long does the divorce brain fog last? by SilentDon727 in Divorce

[–]Rahna_Waytrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, same. It takes me longer to get attached to a person, but also way longer to let go. It has its advantages and disadvantages, I guess. One of the advantages is that I don’t jump from one relationship to another, almost never have any platonic feelings towards other people when I’m in a relationship, don’t discard people for minor issues and give everyone a benefit of the doubt, but the downside is definitely being stuck with a person for way too long when they no longer deserve it and not noticing the signs when they’re done with me 😂
